It's not like you to champion an obvious loser like Whiteside, but on the other hand, it's on brand to drag one of our own guys through the mud. I'm sure you know all of what I just posted and are just semi-trolling, but I wanted to go to bat for Steve.

my argument would be more that this was a down year in a situation he wasn't happy with. like paul george in indiana.

whiteside is an interesting statistical outlier to me and always has been. sort of like kanter but he produces defensive #'s and drpm has always liked him. i think at his best he's reasonably close to steve, but adams is better.

don't be a stranger, oreo

He's been all over the map for the years he's been getting significant playing time, there's nothing to really determine what's a statistical outlier. I think we'd be fine with him, but I wouldn't swap him and Adams without Richardson coming back too. Also, Adams definitely fits our defensive scheme better.

his big numbers, low impact remind me a lot of marcus camby. the man who won dpoy over tim duncan despite his team being better on defense when he was on the bench.

Whiteside is defensive Kanter, that's a good comparison. Character differences notwithstanding. Their numbers look good but don't align with their impact.

I'm not a fan of Whiteside, but I wouldn't call him as bad as Kanter. Whiteside has said that his goal is blocks. He doesn't care about his man he is just looking for opportunities to chase blocks. This will lead to him rotating early and leaving chances for a high IQ ball handler to attack the paint and dump it to the open man for a dunk. Since Miami couldn't change Whiteside I have no hopes in thinking Donovan could. Replacing Adams with Whiteside would drastically hurt OKC's defense and it wouldn't improve the offense. Noel would become the starting center with Whtieside coming off the bench if Donovan were a competent coach, but he'd keep playing the contract over the better player.

I don't think there is any argument for trading Adams to make OKC better unless you are somehow getting Sacramento to become very stupid and sending you WCS for your defensive anchor and Hield to give you a drastic improvement at the wing. I don't think Sacramento would do that as they are too high on Hield.

As for Melo, I fully expect him to get stretched at this point. I think if Presti were willing to pay the price, at least a first and second round pick, to dump the contract he'd be in Brooklyn. I guess Miami is still possible if OKC takes back longer contracts at the same value. Sacramento and Atlanta could still be options, technically, but after selling space dirt cheap to Brooklyn in a stupid move I'm not sure how Atlanta would work now.

The teams that have cap space aren’t going to be in contention for free agents next year. Klay Thompson isn’t going to the bulls and jimmy butler isn’t going to the kings.

The Clippers, Knicks and Nets all have guys on 2 year deals. If the Kings or Bulls traded for Melo, then flipped him out one of those teams for Gallo, Haradaway, or Crabbe and get assets from both teams and get a guy that can actually play just not up to the value you are paying them.

I’m hearing that the Kings are the last team that can take on a Melo-salary-dump.

Would Kings take Ferguson in return for letting us salary dump Melo? Because if I’m Presti, I’m doing that without hesitation.

They only have around $19.5M iirc. So they'd have to send something back, and also don't seem interested in salary dumps. Should be, but aren't.

The Hawks can take him as well if we take back Bazemore.

Shumpert/Mason III for Melo/Ferg?

Also, wonder if Denver would entertain Melo/Ferg for Millsap. Millsap has team option next year.

Denver fans wanted Faried/Arthur for Melo, no way for that one.

No idea with the Kings but would think Melo/1st for Shump is closer, would haggle on protections.

I'd rather trade Ferg than a 1st and would also love to have Mason 3 take over Felton's duties.

So would I but the other team needs incentive lol. Don't know enough about Mason.

He’s a pretty mature point for his age (24) in my opinion. Of course he has defensive limitations due to lack of size (he’s 5’11) but he’s a bulldog defensively. Great effort and he can score. Shot 36% from 3 last year in his rookie season.

If there's any legitimacy to this Leonard to the Raptors stuff, Presit should be working the phones 24/7. He should be able to beat that offer.

Well they don't have a first for 4 years, and don't have an OG level prospect or a DeRozan level guy they're willing to move.

Yeah, but Toronto can't offer first ballot Hall of famer Carmelo Anthony. Checkmate.

OG + Demar is better than 2Pat + Abrines + FRP + pickswap which is basically our best offer unless we trade Adams

I'm talking about Adams.

We really couldn’t have beat the deal that sent Temple to Memphis?

If we did it would make the slim chance of trading Melo impossible

Ben McLemore has to be so sad and confused right now.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.
