Of course the Knicks would do that trade. Doubt the Clippers trade Griffin though.

Yes Melo may be the better scorer but really by not wide margin. Plus, Blake had been balling at MVP level until the last couple of games. Blake pulls down more rebounds, shoots better FG%, and his offense comes in the flow of the team's offense as opposed to Melo's iso. Plus Melo is older.

I wish the Clips would do it, but they wouldn't stay on the phone for a few secs.

You are wrong, Clipper won't hang up the call...They would definitely hear us out and decline if Blake is someone they want to keep.

But Chris Paul and Melo is a juggernaut more so then Blake and Chris Paul

The Clips will likely retool around Blake Griffin, why on earth would they trade him for an aging Melo coming fresh off of knee surgery?

I agree that Cp3, Melo, DeAndre is a better fit than Cp3, Blake, DeAndre but there is no way the Clippers stay on the phone. i like Melo's game but Blake's value is just higher than Melo's. Unless Doc convinced Clipper management that Cp3's window was that small and that he couldn't realistically see Blake putting them over the top I see no reason why they'd even entertain giving up a 4 yr player for an 11 yr player.

You may be right that they listen - but Blake's value is much higher than what appears an injury prone Anthony at this point.

LOL - I remember suggesting Melo/Chandler for Blake/Jordan 2 years ago and people calling me a joke.

Blake is a one dimensional stiff and Jordan is garbage compared to our 2 super heroe's folks said.

What a difference a few years can make in this league - it's why I would prefer NOT to chase older FA's because in 2 years they won't look so attractive.

How would you guys feel about this? If this is something that came down the line in the summer?

Say, Doc and gang in LA knows that Chris Paul is the most important cog to that team and a Center like DeAndre Jordan is so essential to the team, but pairing up Melo with Paul (best friends) to them may take that team to over the top. Chris Paul could use a primetime scorer like Clippers and that right there may make them the team to beat in West next year

For us the Knicks can get Blake and draft a kid this year...Build a franchise around a guy who is a little younger and we can get a big time team around there as get go forward.

I am guessing Melo wouldnt be opposed to this move along with the Clippers players (Basically Chris Paul is really who matters).

I know something like this is unlikely...But what if the Phil Mother ******* Jackson got on the phone with Doc and then spoke to Melo about it.

This is what a possible trade would look like per ESPN's trade Machine

Knicks Trade Carmelo Anthony ($22m) + THJR ($1.25m)
Clippers Trade: Blake Griffin ($17.6m)+ Jamal Crawford ($5.4m)

That's the only way I see the Clippers and Knicks agreeing to this type of deal because in order for salaries to match, the Clippers will insist on us taking a player making $5-6m/year for at least 2 years: candidates are Spencer Hawes, Jamal Crawford, JJ Reddick. Of those three, Reddick is their 3/D defender who the Clippers are unlikely to trade, Hawes barely plays and is on a 4 year deal and it's uncertain if the Knicks would want him in return, whereas they could be willing to take back Crawford. THJR gives the Clippers a young catch and shoot 3pt 2G on the cheap, so he'll have the legs underneath him to pay in DOCs run you into the ground system.

I'm not sure a trade between these two teams would be agreed to-how much do we value THJR? Would we hold out for a future draft pick from the Clippers for him? Would GM DOC Rivers have it in him to channel his inner Danny Ainge and demand a future first round draft pick from us? I do know one thing, Melo and LALA would not protest a trade to LA, same market size like NYC. Plus Melo's got Paul and DeAndre to do work with.

We need to offer Austin Rivers 5 mill a year.

Blake will be making 19M next year. The clippers are gonna want to salary dump someone like Hawes on us. Not sure I would take on Hawes unless they offer us a 1st rounder. If not then it's a straight swap of players (Melo/Griffin)

I think it's much more likely the Clips move Paul at this point which isn't very likely in the first place.

Would you trade the first rounder for Damian Lillaed?

Post#2875 » by MikeYi30430 » Mon May 18, 2015 9:22 pm

Simple question would you trade the first round pick for Dame? Him&Melo would be a lot more attractive to FAs. Sign a third star and that's a big 3. He's only making 4 mil next year too since he's still on his rookie contract.

Why would Portland trade him? They might be rebuilding after Wes is broken and Aldridge leaves. Thoughts?

Portland have him on the tradeblock? Doesn't make much sense.

He's a top 5-8 PG easily but not sure if its the direction Knicks need.
Keep the pick and rebuild in a noble fashion.

If Mudiay, Towns or Russel are on the board then no, but I'd think about it. If those 3 are taken then yes I'd trade in a heart beat
