Someone make a YouTube mix of Collison setting screens and drop a Rick Ross track on it.

Awesome.

I think that knowing your limits and your role is more than half of being a good baller. I.e....

A less talented guy who knows his role can be > A talented guy who doesn't

Lots of players trying to hard in the league and playing themselves right out of jobs. In fact, on the Wolves it's over half the roster.

More players need this attitude. This is the reason why Collison has stayed with the same team his whole career.

Wow! That is an awesome quote. All rookies should read that upon arrival in the league. I never knew anything about him other than what I see on the court, but now I have a lot of respect for him. PEACE.

Confidence and ego don't have to go hand in hand. Nick Collison shows that. Great quote.

agree 100%, respect to Collison.

Talking, setting screens, doing the little things might not make the highlights on ESPN but it helps your team stop a critical play, get a nice shot up, get a good position etc...

And coaches want you in their team... basketball teams have 12 spots, usually a 8-9 men rotation... but can only really have 1-3 dominant ball users.... so there's plenty of time for a role player willing to do the facilitating, coach related moves/plays etc...

Coaches value good role players who doesnt jack up shots but emphasize the coaching strategy on the court..

This is great, and it's nice to see the respectful responses. Collison has been an excellent player for years. I remember when the early Dan Rosenbaum adjusted plus/minus ratings came out five or six years ago, and Nick Collison rated as one of the top players in the NBA, everybody was like "WTF?" (Looks like Hollinger's study repeated the result over a different sample, which is interesting!) Collison's remarks are backed up by the data -- the "little things" truly are that important to a basketball game. Bravo.

Probably the greatest comment on youtube ever.

Anyways, terrific attitude, He's paid to play and insted of whinging and going to a lesser team for more oppotunity, he wants to help his team win the best way he can

One of my random nights of lurking, I stumbled upon advanced stats stating Collison, and all his hard work, is one of the best players in the NBA, according to this metric. Some really interesting discussion and some very intelligent posts and posters. Just thought I'd leave it here for anyone that was interested.
