MSG stock could offer LeBron financial stake in team success

MSG stock could offer LeBron financial stake in team success

http://www.newsday.com/sports/basketbal ... -1.1924828

The Knicks may have a way to make up the difference in salary that LeBron James can make if he stayed in Cleveland as opposed to signing in New York. They can offer LeBron the chance to invest in his own success . . . and reap the financial rewards.

According to an article by Forbes Magazine national editor Michael K. Ozanian, "next season LeBron will be playing for the New York Knicks because this January they became the only franchise that can use their stock as currency."

The CBA does not allow a player to own an ownership stake in his team and the Knicks can't give him stock in MSG because it circumvents the salary rules. But there is no rule against James buying stock in the parent company of a team, in this case, MSG, Inc (MSG on NASDAQ).

Blazer fan here,
I want the Knicks to be good, because if the Knicks are good it helps the whole NBA. Anyway, Just read on the front page that Lebron could buy shares in the Knicks, as you are the only team to trade shares on the stock exchange. That is insane, Lebron could say he is going to sign somewhere like Chicago or Clevland, wait until the Knicks stock drops because it looks like you aren't going to get a big free-agent, and then buy as much as he can and say that he changed his mind, he wants to play for the Knicks, then sit back and watch the stock go through the roof and maybe double or triple his money. Freakin crazy/brilliant.
I think the lure of New York city, and the ability to be the only player and part owner in the league will make Lebron sign pretty soon after July 1st. I bet he quietly buys stock on the first and then signs within a few days, I think they can sign on the 8th.
Now that I think about it, I bet he is going to talk Bosh into doing the same thing. Even though each could get more in a sign and trade in contract dollars, if they talk decide to buy stock and both take slightly less than max contracts, they will make alot more money from investing in the Knicks, plus the Knicks will still be able to add some other pieces.
You guys could wind up being very good very fast. Wow.
My question is if the Feds will consider this to be insider tradeing? Technically it would be, but it would be difficult to prove.
Mark my words, Lebron will be a Knick for sure, 100% no doubt about it. This is going to get wild. Oh, and buy Knicks strock. Gongrats.

Calvin Murphy confirms that Delonte has been sleeping with LeBron's mom & a bunch of other players have as well. Also says his teammates knew for months. Says his Mom is a ho.

Contributing to the LeBron to anyone but the Knicks is a rumor that LeBron was spotted in Dutchess County looking for a home. This rumor is fueling speculation that LeBron is planning on giving up basketball, and taking up baseball, starting with an A-level baseball team, the Hudson Valley Renegades. This rumor is said to have legs, because Dutchess County is looking for a draw, to make up for IBM becoming irrelevant. Dutchess County is supposed to offer the small town love, plus something even NYC can't offer: All of the property of Dutchess County will be turned over to Lebron and the county will be changed from "Dutchess" to "King James". And yes, for the residents of Dutchess County, the phrase "This is LeBron's world, you just live in it" will be true in ways people couldn't even imagine.

Why is Dutchess County considering this? Well, because it is figured that LeBron in Dutchess county will revitalize the economy in ways no other option would. The prospects of Poughkeepsie becoming more relevant than Cleveland is too large to refuse this as an option.

- Rich

Now excuse me as I am about to head out and start camping in front of LeBron's future home in Dutchess, to get an application to mow his lawn. I figured I need to camp out several months in advance so that I can actually get an application.

While I won't rock this because it's beyond a jinx...

I would suggest not having the smaller LeBron in there, it just looks weird. I'd also probably just use this photo: http://images.nymag.com/news/sports/lebron/lebronopener100517_560.jpg

Best part was the end where he said- "I never thought LeBron would leave Cleveland, but I'm telling you...homeboy is gone". Or something to that effect. Awesome

So wow...Delonte West will be public enemy #1 in Ohio after this. He single handedly derailed their entire season and effectively drove LeBron out of town leaving Cleveland little to no chance of ever winning a title. Ouch. Hope that old pussy was worth it.

Re LBJ FA status: To me it's clear as day go to NYC and be the superhero that brought bball back to the big apple where it belongs, and alothough you wont be as beloved as the Yankees you'll be the hottest ticket in town. He'll be the king of NYC, he'll be a global icon. D'antoni would be a great coach for LBJ, bring in Wade or Bosh and worry about role players later.

Anywhere else else you're just Lebron.

Here's the caviot, all LBJ does is make bad decisions, so IMO he won't be going to NYC eventhough he should.

Great point.

I think one of the problems with worrying about the role players later is that LBJ is sick of not winning and would rather be on a team where the role players are in place, and outside of his presence there is chemistry. Arguablly his impact is so immense that it will change chemistry anywhere, even the "ready made" Bulls, who are not in fact ready made.

Pretty good post although I'm not sure he makes bad decisions. He hasn't had a chance to really make a career decision yet. Signing a 3-year extension when he was an RFA is not really a decision. Obviously Cleveland wouldn't have let him go anyway. So this is really his first major decision. Other than Nike, etc., and all of those decisions are fine.

Which one(s) are you referring to?

if lebron is looking at his situation, logically, its the knicks, the knicks, the knicks and everybody else. the knicks, simply put, are the ideal fit.

no other team has the ideal fit of having a guy with gallo's skillset on the team as well as the space to bring in another marquee guy. in new york, he will make the most money.

whether its basketball legacy question, or a money question, the knicks are/and should be his best option. bottom line.

i read that too but the title on wiretap is misleading. The article just talks about how 1 real estate executive (who is well-connected though) says he doesn't believe there's any truth to the rumors...and that unlike him, there are other real estate professionals out there who don't keep their mouths shut...so he could very well be house-hunting but for some reason this well-connected dude just doesn't know about it.
