What should have been a dead giveaway that the picture was a fake is that I seriously doubt Batum has wavy hair.

Not a fan of Drummond, but assuming that a 18 years old center sucks using a 5 game SUMMER LEAGUE sample doesn't look like a smart move

Remember when Oden played in the summer league and did what the announcers said
last night was unlikely like commit more than 10 fouls in a summer league game?

people who judge bigs off of box scores should stick to ESPN Top 10 plays.

Drummond was very impressive in SL

I realize this is crazy, but, Leonard seriously reminds me so much of David Robinson. Obviously, he doesn't have the game but his body and movements are really similar IMO.

I couple of highlight dunks doesn't make a player impressive. Just ask Harold Minor. ;)

Not looking good for Austin rivers early on in summerleague glad we didn't draft him over Meyers like so many here wanted. I was calling for harkless that day myself but it was pretty obvious to me rivers wouldn't be that good in the Nba. Rivers screams bayless 2.0 no shot no mid range game can drive uncontrollably but too weak to finish and is being turned into a pg. Bad choice for Monty repeating the same mistake from his Portland days trying to turn a sg into a pg.

Rivers isn't a PG.
That's the first mistake.

NOH should've kept it as:

Jack/Vasquez
Gordon/Rivers

ESPN highlights are IMO one of the worst things that ever happened to sports fans. Sure, they're flashy, but fans (and young players growing up) now value style over subtance. Harold Minor was a great example--fantastic dunker who probably could have had a solid career barnstorming with And1, but basically didn't understand a lick about the team game. Even the Youtube highlights can be misleading. I watched one of him where he had a few nice dunks, only he pushed off with his off hand (an easy foul call in the NBA), he settled for a lot of rushed off balanced shot instead of showing patience and backing in, and the blocks in that video were of shots that looked like they'd barely clear the rim (with one exception--a clear goaltend on Melo). So should I assume he's going to suck forever? Absolutely not! But the highlights just show what we already know--he's big, he's athletic, and he really doesn't know yet how to take advantage of that.

That is a very interesting comparison. He does look and move like Robinson. Leonard seems like a puppy because his movements seem so erratic and unpolished. But he moves so well for a big man. And he shows flashes of terrific offensive skill. I am very intrigued with Leonard. His upside seems very high.

Drummond is playing exactly how we expected so far.

Low rebounding rate, no offensive skills at all, cant shoot FTs, But will play ok defense and block a couple shots.

His upside feels more like Deandre Jordan to me than anything else.

Lamb and Barnes are always going to the be players our rooks have to measure up to.

Agreed. Espcially since they were available at our pick.

Those two along with White were safe picks in my mind.

We are still talking about just summer league performances aren't we? Because that seems just a little early to make definitive judgements on any player

Agreed. The Rivers/Gordon starting combo is going to be awful imo. They never should have picked him.

As for Drummond, he definitely is what we expected starting out. I was a big fan of Drummond, but even I knew he was going to be pretty rough in this first season. Hell, when your own coach says you're probably 4 or 5 years away, that's pretty damning. He was going to be a project and he'ss proving that to be very true.

In what is admittedly a very very VERY small sample size against mostly non-NBA quality players, you could say that Leonard has been the 2nd most promising big in the 2012 Draft. Now, there's a lot that can and will change between now and 40+ games into the regular season, but you have to like how Leonard has started.

Thanks I just stole from the blazers page. I wouldn't discount Waiters just yet Ill wait for him to play an actual nba game so he can play with irving.
