no respect for rod higgins. haha. he's your power forward on this team, until paul silas gets hired as a consultant.

I like to pretend Higgins has no responsibility other than to be MJ's friend

Anyone else enjoy listening to Clifford's interviews during the Summer league?
He sounds very approachable as a couch and seems to break things down so easily, almost the opposite of Dunlap's methods of communication.

As much as Dunlap last year was about showcasing Kemba's strengths, it sounds like this year Clifford will be about highlighting the bigs on offense.

we definitely seem to be posting up a lot more based on summer league. there was a brief mention on twitter that our offense resembled the triangle offense with a low post/high post and wing shooter. even w/out jefferson we have been posting up biz a lot in the paint, with zeller almost always in the high post.

it will be interesting to see how this change in philosophy impacts kemba's game.

New story up on the observer site about the Hendo situation, but there's a few nice nuggets from Clifford as well.

http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2013/0 ... -last.html

"New Charlotte Bobcats coach Steve Clifford doesn’t want to get caught shorthanded next season at point guard or among the big men. He can live with fewer choices at shooting guard and small forward."

"Clifford sees signing a third point guard and retaining another big man as priorities. 'You have to have a third point guard. If your team’s not organized in this league, you have no chance to play well,' Clifford said at summer-league practice Wednesday. 'I think you have to have six bigs,' he added, referring to centers and power forwards." (So who's the odd man out? Does this mean Adrien gets cut or Haywood traded? Or just that they won't be a part of the rotation?).

"'We have some flexibility in that (small forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist) will play some power forward. But if you don’t have enough bodies up front and you go to Memphis and one of them has the flu, that means somebody (undersized) has to guard Zach Randolph.'” (Yeah, not sounding too good for Adrien).

I haven't seen anybody mention how well coached the Cats have looked during the SL. Even when Hair Guy and other scrubs have been on the floor the team has looked extremely well organized, a word Clifford clearly likes.

i have definitely noted it mentally. the offense looks simple, comfortable, and relaxed. zeller is being used in some exciting ways (which may or may not continue into the regular season), and everybody seems to be buying in. defensively i always wonder if the intensity of the contract players has bled into the rest of the SL roster. MKG and biyombo had a play on a fast break opportunity versus the knicks that was just awesome. midseason form for both of them. good to see.

Since we have 25% of our cap space and two lottery picks invested in the 4 and 5 I should hope we become more of a frontcourt team.

So build in the mold of the memphis grizzlies? I can see clifford doing that.

You could be 100% correct, but when was the last time a player came out and spoke out against their new head coach? Unless your Kobe or some nutter like MWP you just don't do that, players are too professional for that.

On a side note, I have seen numerous interviews with him and he does look highly personable, I'm just playing devil's advocate.

i wouldnt expect them to badmouth the current coach, but in dunlap's case, they didnt say much of anything, which speaks volumes.

Good to see Walker doing research on Clifford. He would have needed Edward Snowden to find anything out on Dunlap.

I have a feeling that we'll be too good next season and finish with 35 or more wins and miss out on our pick. We are 2 deep at every position and have a way better coaching staff, and improved our weakness tenfold.

Look, had we hired a good coach last season, we would have been better sooner, with even more reason to make moves similar to this offseason. Fact is, a new coach and system will take time to gel, as well as the players. I am sure we will be better, but it may be a late run that builds the extra wins. I am OK with all that, as I want this team moving toward excellence.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I'm honestly just happy that we don't have to watch teams post a guy up in the corner behind the arc waiting for an open shot created by some **** double team, I mean my God, Dunlap was just an awfully flawed defensive theorist.
Mike Malone was never given a fair chance in Sacramento, and Ranadive will soon come to regret that, when he's on top of the WC inevitably contending somewhere
