5 for 35 and he is not the GM or anything like that? Maybe he will be more in charge than we thought. Man what drugs did EG give ted to get him to sign that check ?

Maybe the Wizards interviewed other candidates on the telephone, Snapchat, or Tinder

While this is could possibly be a play for KD, whom I doubt is signing here, I feel Brooks is still a good sign. Anything is better than Wittman. Every thing that is said about Brooks sounds like a positive for us. A coach that relates to players well, doesn't disrupt the locker room, and with the Thunder had a strong defense (though that could be personnel I haven't really looked, besides Ibaka).

I mean what other realistic option was there? Ettore Messina would have been nice, but he is still unproven, even though I think he'll be exceptional in the league.

I feel Brooks will help Wall, Beal, Porter, Oubre, and then could possibly attract some veteran FAs more so than Wittman did.

This is the best news of the season. Finally we've got a quality coach.

Now they just need to make a strong push for some of the Thunder's ballboys and janitorial staff and the Wizards might have a real shot at signing Durant!

Brooks mention of Wall, Beal, Porter and Oubre came straight from Ernie's pitch, I'm sure Morris is going to leave not having heard his name mentioned by Brooks

They have one more card that could but won't be played: Let Grunfeld go and bring Troy Weaver from OKC.

That card still could be played if they somehow are in real discussions with KD. Or in 2017.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Also, think this is a solid hire, I don't think Brooks is a championship level coach but, he'll get you to the level of prennial playoff contention. Great at developing young players, scheme wise he might not be the brightest though. Seems like way too much money, I was thinking closer to 4-5 mill but, hell it doesn't go against the cap anyways. Good luck to you guys.

The only coaches getting paid more than Brooks are those who also are team presidents.

Really good point in the article:

We've seen the same thing unfold with how the team approaches signing players. Last summer, Washington restricted themselves to players who would sign one-year deals and looked for players based on the roles they needed to fill, instead of trying to find players who could raise the overall talent level on the team.
