This seems objectively incorrect. There is a reason Kanter was pretty much unplayable for most of the playoffs. Also, it is not $19 million a season.

Some random guy called Melton that I've never heard of got a 40 mil contract offer today. He would absolutely have been a top priority for several teams! Especially after how he played this past season!

I think people are not grasping the concept of restricted free agency.

Totally grasp it. If you wait for another team to throw the offer thats fine but maybe you get stuck having to pay an extra 10- 20 mil on top because you now have to match it. You won't lose him but you also don't get the discount. Being restricted does not deter all teams especially if its a small market ready to overpay like Charlotte or a crap team like the Knicks.

Totally deters Charlotte. They still have to do the same cap bloodletting they will do for Hayward, but instead of getting Hayward, they don’t get Hayward OR Brown.
