They already cancelled the CNE which runs into September and is outdoors. And then less than 2 months later they’re going to allow people indoors into Scotiabank arena? And that’s without variants popping up in the fall that are vaccine “resistant” which means everyone has to take new and improved vaccines. It’s not happening. Maybe in the spring but I doubt it.
The point of not allowing Raptors to play in Canada had to do with concern regarding having people repeatedly back and forth between borders with US situation being worse than that of Canada at the time. Nothing to do with having fans inside Scotiabank Arena as that was always out of the question. That's why Leafs were still allowed to play because it was all-Canadian division with no need to cross borders. Now that situation has changed in US with vaccinations, Raptors should be allowed to play here without fans at least at first so they can have some sense of normalcy instead of being out on the road all the time.
To deny them would be ultimate form of hypocrisy and cowardice.
It’s hard to get the public to feel sorry for multi million dollar athletes when thousands of small businesses have been destroyed with no relief in sight so I don’t think the govt is very concerned about accusations of hypocrisy and cowardice.
Having Raptors play in their hometown has as much to do with the fans as it does athletes.
Shouldn't be surprised at your reaction considering you never understood the issue at hand comparing CNE situation to that of Raptors, which have no relation what-so-ever. And yes, I know government isn't very concerned about being accused of hypocrisy and cowardice because that's all they've shown through this pandemic and we wouldn't be where we are if they actually cared.
