He has everything outside an elite shot, and his 31% this season may be an anomoly (38% as a Freshman, 79% FT on high volume indicates likelyhood he is a decent 3PT shooter at least w/ time). I really like the way his play fits in OKC, a super competitor who gives 100% on both sides of the floor. NBA ready but room to grow. He may be the best wind defender in this draft, I think only Dyson has an argument there.
I feel he was miscast as the primary scorer / creator in Wisconsin and that he could be an elite role player if given the chance to simply concentrate on defense, hitting open shots and taking what the defense gives him. Something like a super Josh Hart.
Right now I like this draft for OKC:
#2 - Chet Holmgren FC
#12 - Johnny Davis G
*** Trade #30 + #34 for #24 ***
#24 - EJ Liddell FC
Wish I could give you infinity +1's for this post as it reflects my ideal draft.
Liddell is a beast. I understand the age gap between he and Sochan but Liddell is literally sitting right there as a guy who can defend his ass off and not be a complete liability on offense. Would bet he's a better play finisher overall given his freakish vertical.
Johnny is my favorite player in this whole class full stop. Said it before but I just can't shake that he's gonna be special. I see what you're saying about "elite role player" when he's next to our guys but I don't think star is out of the question for him. He can really create and score in a lot of different ways. I see Josh Hart on defense but with legitimate 3 level self creation. I'm crazy about his game.
Chet is self explanatory at this point. We need guys who can be efficient and he can do that all over the floor while being a special defender.
Ya, I think this simple offseason would do the trick for OKC - no long term salary, clear some roster spots (Likely all the rookies dont start, but this is my fantasy) -

Ideally Poku develops and demands more minutes, but I really like that mix. Lots of shooting and versatile defenders - Mann as the microwave off the bench, basically only Giddey and Mann with maybe EJ as not clear + defenders too (Well, and Poku but he is gettins spot minutes at 12mpg in this rotation)
