Whoops Cavan at 2nd, Espinal at 3rd. Either way this is a Maguire start away from being the worst possible lineup we could throw out lmao

We don't even have McGuire anymore. We dealt him for a worse catcher than him who they don't trust to play defense.

Hey, on the plus side, since we're already playing all of our lefty fielders, at least this cuts down on Montoyo's weird potential subs?

This lineup today symbolizes why I do not think Montoyo is the guy to lead this team to the promise land. Tapia has no business hitting 5th. What a joke.

When I read about Tapia at 5 before seeing this lineup card, I thought it was a joke.

Holy, even if it's for the breaking up the RHB, you should swap Biggio and Tapia. I would put Espinal at 5, then Biggio, Kirk, Zimmer,

There is zero reason to break up the righties, for that matter. Basically all of our righties can hit righties better than Tapia can.

Breaking up left-handed hitters can be somewhat meaningful, because they tend to have more pronounced platoon splits and most teams have at least one LHRP that is especially good against lefties. But righties? Totally pointless, and just absolutely silly when the guy breaking them up has a career .726 OPS against them.

Thank goodness the diagnosis on Teo doesn't seem too bad. He's talking a couple weeks. Id be thrilled with that outcome

A shockingly accurate description of Montoyo's fixation on left-handed hitters.

36 starts in the OF for us, most of those in RF. And yeah, Biggio starting in RF is another option that is likely better than starting Tapia, assuming even a modest bounce-back from last year.
