With CeeDee is was like "Wait a sec, what the hell are you doing here? This wasn't the plan we already acquired Amari Cooper". And then Jerry had a PTSD flashback of drafting Greg Ellis over Randy Moss.
I just don't think Jaxon or Zay or Quentin are prospects on that level. CeeDee could have been drafted top-10 and no one would have blinked or labeled it a reach.

Don't take this the wrong way. But I would take JSN over Lamb. He's going to be a bonifide stud as a slot. He'll be one of the better route runners that we see, fairly early on. I think he could have a Justin Jefferson/Cooper Kupp type impact if put in the right situation.

Yeah sorry, JSN is not the prospect that CeeDee was. Maybe JSN goes on the be the next Jerry Rice, anything can happen, but I think the odds are that Lamb will have a better overall career.

I'm expecting Lamb to have a breakout year this coming season. He's 24, has 3 years under his belt, he should be entering his prime right now. I think he'll have 1500+ yards and 12+ TDs. That might not top Jefferson, Chase, Tyreek but I think Lamb will be in top-5 talks next season.

I love Zay. His play is similar to Brandin Cooks.
He's my #2 WR behind JSN.
Not how I would go in the 1st round but I can understand the thought process. Having another guy that can stretch the field can never hurt. And with Gallup not exactly stepping up last season after the injury, the logic is reasonable.
In McClay I trust.
Not to mention that the Cowboys can get out of Cooks contract pretty cheap after next season. I’m not convinced he will be back at that point. That would give Flowers time to learn the NFL game.

There is a chance Quentin is there in the 2nd round.

If a top WR prospect drops to our 2nd pick I'm fine with it.

This mock has us taking Dalton Kinkaid and this is how I hope the draft goes. We desperately need a competent pass catcher at TE.
I wonder...if the Falcons would take our 1st for Kyle Pitts. He has been somewhat of a let down and they are in rebuild.

Tankathon’s last couple of mocks has had us taking Kincaid at 26 too. To me Kincaid looks like he could be Travis Kelce. For me it’s a toss up between him or Mazi Smith, those are my preferences.

Kincaid would be too good for them to pass up imo. He's going to be one of the better receiving TE's from the jump. It's a no brainer.

This is interesting. The top 10 worst 1st round draft picks in Cowboys history. I still think picking Mo Claiborne 6th overall (and trading up for him) should be in the top 2 worst picks of all time.

How would you guys feel about Drew Sanders at pick 26? Let’s say Bijan and Mazi Smith are still on the board. How would you feel if the Cowboys draft Drew Sanders?

Taco was arguably a worse pick than Mo. Taco could barely contribute anything. Mo was a bust but at least Mo was able to play a few seasons as a starter and get a few ints.
Although Mo was taken much higher and the trade, so yeah idk. Both awful picks, but that said Dallas has been great at drafting lately and they were rare occurrences.

Before I started looking at film and doing some research, Drew Sanders was my first pick. Posted somewhere in here a couple months ago about loving Sanders. Still want Mazi Smith but I have absolutely no problem at all taking Drew Sanders. You know me when it comes to LB's and DT's. Let me guess, you saw some film on him and yo also love his motor? Plays a lot like LVE. He's relentless.

Yea I remember you mentioning Sanders. I saw someone describe him as a MLB version of Micah Parsons. Also heard someone say whoever drafts this kid is going to completely change the look of the interior of their defense.
I wouldn’t have a problem with Sanders the same reason I wouldn’t have a problem Mazi Smith at 26. I’m ok with adding to the strength of the team. Also it’s not like we couldn’t use the insurance for LVE. This defense is going to be loaded with pass rushers. Even if they don’t take Drew Sanders I think they will take another pass rusher at some point in this draft.

Taking Mazi Smith or Drew Sanders would be a dream come true for me. Since you've known me I have always cried and bitched about DT or LB every year since 2015. Can't go wrong in my book as long as its one of them. I'd be super happy which ever one they took.
Of course that's if we stay put @ 26. There are two players if they fell close to us where it wouldn't be too expensive to move up a bit I would seriously consider.

bluejerseyjinx wrote:Mr B wrote:Ok looking at the DT’s now and I’ve spotted 3 guys though would be realistic options.
The first is Siaki Ika from Oregon. He’s a big fat nasty DT at 6-4 358 lbs. He would immediately help the run defense. He also likes to get upfield and is pretty good at it. There is also a good chance he’s still in the board at 26, that’s about where being being projected.
They could also wait until the 2nd round and take Mazi Smith from Michigan. He’s also very big (6’3” 337 lbs) and would immediately help the run defense. He’s an extremely solid DT, an anchor (how he was described). His problem is he doesn’t hardly ever get upfield. He’s strictly a very good run defender.
Keondre Coburn (6’2” 344 lbs) from Texas in the 4th or 5th round is the other guy. From what I’ve been reading has 1st round talent but a 4th round motor. He doesn’t give it to you all the time.
I love all three, especially Mazi Smith. Is this the year I finally get my wish?
I was on to Mazi Smith back in January.

End of Round 2? Probably not.
Then I like Drew Sanders.
2 days later in February I added Drew Sanders to the very top of my list should we take a LB with our pick.

That's what I was thinking when thought of him. Remember how bad we got gashed in the running game when LVE was out for those 3 weeks.

Re: 2023 NFL Draft: Dallas Cowboys
We could be in a better spot than I thought we were. I guess there are 6 teams talking with both Houston and Arizona for their picks. This could be a crazy week before the draft. I suspect a lot of movement depending on everyone's current needs. Like Otis said in a post a couple weeks ago, lets see what shakes out above us. I'm still committed to DT, LB or O-line with our first pick, but you never know what may fall into our lap.
