Even im not thay homerish.... highest i thinl is 8th for us.
My thinking is that the 6th seed was 45 wins last season and I think we are a .500 team with a range of 37 to 45 wins.

6th seed, possible not probable.

A lot of it is going to depend on injury and how our players respond to said injury. I can imagine a scenario where Cole / Fultz is now injured and Black steps in crushing the NBA and forces us to trade our guards. (this is a wishful thinking scenario.)

If Black does seem like an obvious upgrade in the backcourt. I expect 6th seed in so much that I won't be as surprised. If Black takes the usual 2-3 years to develop then I am thinking we are a playin team / 7/8 seed.

I am not the biggest fan of a runback right now. Yet, consider that Fultz, Cole, Suggs have a lot to prove. Black also will have to "make his mark" to earn minutes. I suspect something happening within the next 0-2 years when after our finals run we realized we had "two starting PGs" in Rafer / Nelson and decided to commit to one.

Like it or not, Fultz will either improve his value or implode.

Cole Anthony will either retain his role or implode

Both have oft injured careers thus paving wear for Black to come in and explode.

Sorry man, NBA is ignoring Paolo completely. The young stars match is definitely Wemby vs OKC.

Yeah.. stick-boi vs stick-boi in a ROY match.
Okay, then what are the odds Wemby and Chet are both injured for the Christmas game?

I mean, I wouldn't put any money on it by any means.

I peg the "led by a potential top 5 player" teams as the Celtics (Tatum), Bucks (Giannis), Heat (Butler), and the 76ers (Embiid).

So the Celtics, Bucks, Heat, and 76ers are early contenders.

Then there are teams that are "led by potential top 10 players" like the Pacers (Haliburton) and Cavs (Mitchell). To have a chance at contender you really need to lean in on roster construction and I think the Cavs have a clear edge here.

Then there is a team "with two all-stars" in the Knicks (Brunson, Randle), that adds Robinson to the mix but has a clear ceiling imo.

After than I think it is wide open.

MIA and PHI right now are still in limbo. They could be be in the top-4, could be fighting for a PO spot ( where I peg us at ) or wanting to blow it up.

Celts , Bucks - top of the East
Cavs Knick - wanting to be there
Heat 76ers - unknown
Hawks Pacers Magic Bulls - fighting for that spot in the PO

Wow...that's some depth...I guess it could come down to health to determine who slips out as much as anything.

Exactly. It's all about that great NBA skill " availability"

If NY has 10-15 games of injured Brunson, that team is fighting for a PO spot instead of a guarantee.
If ATL implodes with the drama, they are our of the PO picture
If Bulls has one of their big three injured cuz..you know... age... then goodbye PO picture
If MIA fails to land Dame, then they are looking at the draft already
If Harden does his thing ( trade demand and whatnot) they are blowing it up.

I wonder if we extend Cole and Fultz just because that is the new meta for this CBA? Jazz extending Clarkson is a canary in the coal mine for me.

I think fans will need to adjust how people view extensions as well- it doesn't always indicate willingness to keep the player that long anymore, in fact some people sign these contracts knowing they probably don't finish the year on the team.
