Will someone please tell me when one of these 4 first rounders deals has ever worked out for the team getting the player? I'm going to say I can't recall 3 firsts for anyone working out well, especially not for someone like Bane who hasn't and likely won't glimpse an all-star game. much less all-NBA .

I like the move for Orlando, because Franz + Bane + Paolo is a five year playoff team core. I also think Devin Booker is gonna bounceback next season and Phoenix will be a playin level team. If the Phoenix 2nd swap rights end up #2-4 in 2026 draft, then that's a bad beat for Orlando but I doubt that's what will happen.

The interesting question is what is Memphis gonna do next? Do they re-sign Jaren and then go into next season looking to cash in these 1sts they just got. Or are they gonna move ja Morant and regroup like 2006-07 Celts did with JJJ in the Pierce role. Interesting question because come jan/Feb we may be hearing Jaylen Brown to memphis with a draft haul going out? I wonder??

Or memphis just likes making picks, so do they just want to reload through the draft which they did so well 2018-2021?

I agree Orlando is a 5 year playoff team core. Not a 5 year championship core. They just traded their future for a few conference semifinals, maybe.

The Bucks won a championship trading 3 first round picks and two swaps for Jrue.

EDIT: It’s an overpay by the Magic, but they are a defensive team with mediocre shooting. Bane is one of the best 3PT shooters in the league and can average 20-22. Banchero projects to be a number 1 option on a contending team. Bane has already proven he can minimally be a 2nd or 3rd option on a contending team before Morant got suspended. Wagner is a great 2nd option as well. Bane is only 26/27.

Sometimes you gotta push your chips into the middle especially when you have two young stars about to hit their prime. The Celtics may have not traded 3-4 first round picks for one player, but we traded that amount of picks to get Jrue and White.

They'll look different with a healthy Suggs and Wagner next year. They are a very big team size wise all around.

The nets comparison missed my point. Did it work out for the nets? Bucks trade for Jrue did work out, for 3 picks.

It’s gonna be a little sad not using Orlando in the trade machine any more.

The Steven Adams deal (3/$39) is a nice model for a KP extension, if he sticks around. KP better, but obviously less available

I can see it for Orlando. They've got plenty of young stars and the picks won't be lottery.

Good to see the Bane pick worked out for someone, if not the C's...

Not really. I was tired of seeing proposals where the Celtics gave a first round pick to swap Jrue for KCP and others.

Half this board are only happy when the Celtics are a mid but scrappy team.

Weren’t really any of those unless the “others” were the reason for the first. But, moot now.

IIRC Adams has been injury prone for years. I wanted him at one point, then season after season he was down from an injury. He made it through last season tho. He’s always been a solid player when he played.

KP is worth more than 13 a year though, someone will pay him that regardless of past health problems. 13m is pennies in the NBA. Adam’s basically got a minimum contract. I don’t know why people think KP will take a minimum contract. He’ll probably want more, but he can get at least 20, I’m sure he’ll do that on a 1 year deal, before he does 3 for 13m per.

If it happens, I’m coming to say it’s unbelievable and all of you were right. I just can’t see it til it happens.

Wait, wait… I didn’t see the trade details until now. Cole Anthony too?!! KCP is a good guy for a contender. Magic gave up a hell of a lot, wow.

If I’m Brad, I try to extend him for that or slightly more. He loves playing here, and teams will definitely be scared of the availability. If he doesn’t accept, I trade him. Not worth paying all the taxes on him next year if he’s going to walk or continue to be really expensive going forward. 3/$50M???

We should hope so, but how do we know that wasn't just one team making a drastic over pay. I guess time will tell.
