FREE AGENT/Trade/Transaction Idea thread

if i were one of the basketball gods:

draft mudiay

make max offer to marc gasol
trade calderon (owed $15.1 over the next two years)/hardaway jr. to bring taj gibson ($17.5 over the next two years) home
sign marc gasol to the max
sign an offensive PF/C for cheap (blatche, amar'e, bargnani?)
sign a veteran backcourt presence (miller?) @ the minimum
sign a veteran frontcourt presence (brand, west?) @ the minimum

i'd be ready to ride with this 13-man team:

gasol/cole/(blatche, bargnani, amar'e)
gibson/(blatche, bargnani, amar'e)/(brand, west)
melo/early/thanasis
mudiay/ledo
galloway/shved/(miller)

i say, try to make the playoffs and better the squad without pressure. the cap explosion in 2016 gives us room for another star player, so next year would be about the next layer of the foundation

I love the moves, but why would the Bulls trade us Gibson for Jose and THJ? They don't want to pay his contract?

I think the bulls and knicks make perfect sense as trade partners. It is clear that both teams need to choose a direction to go in, whether it be win now mode, or play for the future.

I think the bulls and knicks should consider becoming trade partners if the knicks strike out on free agents.
One trade could be something like Rose + Gasol for Calderon + #4
If both teams wanted to go in a different direction... It could be melo to the bulls for picks/mcdermott. The bulls have #22, that sac pic, and of course future picks.

Any ideas that work for both teams? What do you think?

I don't think many bulls fans would consider melo for butler. Butler is younger, will have smaller contract, and is a two way player.

Hardaway would be a nice piece.. but calderon is kind of dead weight these days. I'm sure the bulls are looking to move at least one of their PF/Cs though.

U guys happy with your back up point guard situation. I do remember some people pining for even Nate Robinson back during the Cavs series in your board. Was maybe a exaggeration but I thought i sensed some disappointment in the position

And I mentioned the Butler for Melo since u mentioned Melo for Mcdermott and picks which would get laughed at on the knicks board

Rose has only been healthy and playing games for a SINGLE MONTH since his last significant injury. You cant expect 1 month to raise his value much. Especially with a sub 40 fg% playoff performance

Can't think of a more treadmill team than that. We want a championship, not middling playoff appearances. I'd give them #4 for Lawson, Chandler and #7 and pick either Winslow if he falls or WCS.
