I had been thinking safety in this round, but I've done more digging on the safeties and I'm not sure I love any of them in the single-high spot. If we added a CB here, I'd strongly consider moving Moore back to safety. Though we're running the risk of turning him into another Jimmy Ward with that.

Not even Adderley? I’m surprised by that, Crims.

I have a little worry about Adderly's speed. I'd be totally fine with adding him here, but I'm not as high on it as I was a few weeks ago.

If we pass on the top-two CBs, or they don't fall, Risner may be my top choice at 36. Shore up that OL. It's not a glaring need, but I like the value of Risner. There are so many WRs still on the board, and plenty of CBs that would be interesting in the third (though I shiver to think about drafting another CB project in the third....).

The only CB I'd like in the 3rd is Julian Love from Notre Dame. Also like Michael Jordan, C OSU a lot. Also, with fewer & fewer options available, what about making Michigan DE Chase Winovich a SAM due to that great short-distance burst he has?

The third obviously depends a lot on what happens in the second in terms of CBs. I guess I'm anticipating at least some guys with second round grades will make it to the third because only one is off the board so far, but we could see a real run that dries up the supply. And I haven't really scouted any of these guys.

Winovich at SAM is an interesting proposition, but I don't think it's enough of a value position for us to justify taking him over guys at other spots. I don't think Mark Nzechoa (sp?) was our problem on defense last year. And Eli Harold was adequate at SAM. I don't know that I'd take a guy much before the sixth unless we hadn't taken Bosa and were looking at a guy to play SAM in base and DE in nickel.

I’ve come across 5 mocks so far today (day 2 mocks), and three of which is projecting us drafting Deebo Samuel. I do think he’d be a tremendous upgrade over Trent Taylor as a slot receiver, but still I think there would be a better player (Murphy? Greedy? D.K.?) on the board at that spot.

I'd be disappointed with Samuel at this point. Too much talent at other spots. If we want Samuel, trade back into the 40s.

I'd be down for that trade.

Jets 3rd is 68 so still a quality pick and it'd be good to replace that 2020 2nd rounder we gave up for Ford.

And the Jets shouldn't be terrible I don't see them as a playoff team either so whatever they give us should be in the middle of the round.

I'd certainly listen to offers. What would it take, though? 68 and a second next year probably isn't enough. Would they part with a first? 68, 93, and next year's second? I love the talent on the board right now, but that would be hard to pass on.

2019 NFL DRAFT MOCK DRAFT: DAY 2 PROJECTIONS

http://www.optimumscouting.com/news/2019-nfl-draft-mock-draft-day-2-projections

49ers don't improve nearly as much as they could with that (I like the player as I've said. Just not good value this year). The Shanahan-me WR clash continues if it were to happen.

Parris Campbell to the Seahawks would continue the streak in which a player I want goes one pick before or one pick after the 49ers pick at an alarmingly high rate. Hakeem Butler in the 3rd to the Jets (one pick after the 49ers take Dru Samia) is another example of that.

And looking at the bottom of that 2nd round a whole bunch of already good to very good teams separate themselves even further from the 49ers here IMO.

Agreed re: Samuel. I like him, but I'd rather have AJ Brown if we're going receiver. And I'd rather take a DB than either. Though it seems like Samuel is a strong candidate for the pick. That would piss me off, even though I like Samuel.

Chris, you really want Campbell this high? I know he tested off the charts, but he hasn't run anything near a full route tree.

id take brown, deebo and campbell over DK and not think twice about it. I'm not anywhere near as high as DK as other seem to be,i think he's one dimensional, and i'm not sure his one dimension compliments Jimmy's strengths. DKs best routes are some of Jimmy's worst. Plus there was reports that he got testy with the front office during interviews, if he already has chemistry problems i dont want it becoming cancerous. plus he's probably on steroids, and he can't stay healthy.

I think Deebo would be deadly in our system, his route running and separation ability with kyle and jimmy would be fun to watch, i think he's a perfect compliment with nice versatility. Deebo is probably my favorite of the available receivers, but either of those 3 would satisfy me.

I'd take Metcalf, Brown, and Butler ahead of him here and Hurd, Dortch, and Assumption's Deonte Harris could be better values later on (and about 15 other guys I really want this year) if I could guarantee it but those are ifs.

I'd take Oruwariye ahead of him, though.

In an unrealistic, Pozz driven world, I'd take Ford ahead of him, too.

But yes, I like Campbell more than a lot of people and I feel better about the projection and transition than some others do.

As I've said before I have Rapp far lower than most others but Rapp with a hip concern just about ensures he'd never, ever wind up with me. Hips scare the you know what out of me in the basic sense.

Cardinals are on the clock. Could potentially have #48 from Miami for Rosen as well, trade not official.

I'm higher on Deebo than I was on Pettis, but I'll admit I was wrong about Pettis. I watched a fair bit of his film after we drafted him, and maybe it's because college film is terrible for scouting WRs, but I didn't see his special ability to separate. If we add Deebo, I hope he's everything he can be. But I'd still question passing on players in the defensive backfield or the OL.

Cards get Byron Murphy. Well, at least a good team didn't get him.

Return to San Francisco 49ers
