Adam Silver took a moment before reading the name at the draft. Thankfully, he didn't pronounce it "Kum Ninja."

You know it's funny looking back, when the Warriors flew to Miami for a 12th hour workout of Jonathan Kuminga I Started having flashbacks of Chris mullin and Mitch Richmond flying to New Jersey to work out Patrick O'Bryant last minute. I was a little panicked about the pick.

And yes, that was a very long sentence.

The big thing is that he’s dominating physically before his physical peak. I can’t recall the last small forward that dominated physically the way Kuminga is, maybe KD and LeBron?

Actually he would have been a high school senior during his time in the G league, he reclassified to make himself draft eligible this year instead of 2022…….insane

The way he blows by his guy and just glides through the lane at 6-8 dunking the ball is something not many guys can do. People may say Paul George was able to do that early on. Kinda reminds me of how McGrady was in Toronto.

Even in the modern NBA I can’t think of many guys. I guess LeBron, George, not sure after that because most big guys can’t handle the ball from out at the 3 and most small guys who can handle and leap aren’t imposing size wise.

It’s an ability so few have had, MJ, Clyde, Kobe, McGrady, LeBron, George.

Have a feeling Mad-Eye Moody is going to be the bigger contributor in the RS and Kuminga will be the surprise x factor in a death lineup in the PS. All going to depend how much work they put in and what the IQ is to integrate with the team.

what's not to like about this guy? He has all the tools to be great and I think his weaknesses can easily be fixed. Time, effort and good coaching and this guy will be a star.

I'm sure there's a lot of organizational focus on helping Kuminga improve his outside shot. If he can bring that up to a decent NBA-starter level, he's going to be a serious threat for years and years. Until I started watching his tape in the days before the draft, I didn't realize how big and strong he is. (I was kind of blending him with Bouknight, who I didn't know too well either.) But after seeing a few highlights, then watching him in Summer League, I definitely moved into the Kuminga Kamp.

We need a chunk of Chase to be designated as “Kamp Kuminga “
This movie is like the Rocky Horror Picture Show where everyone knows all the lines.

How about Wakanda? Then, his nickname can be Black Panther.

Kawhi is not quite 6'8 but he has this ability too, and of course there's Giannis. But yeah, it's a special trait.

Kuminga has better hands, quicker feet, is a better ball handler, a far better passer and more explosive than Siakam which are all abilities that lend themselves to Kuminga being a 3 rather than a 4. Kuminga has a PF's body and guard skills which is the ideal SF in today's game. Kuminga's ceiling is much higher than Siakam.

If kuminga could shoot he could play the 3. Hopefully down the line he can. But this year he’s most likely playing as a 4 or a 5.

He's going to play the position he defends best which is going to get figured out in training camp. If a second unit forms with a frontcourt of Kuminga/Porter/Bjelica I could see him and Porter as interchangeable as 3/4s.

I understand not leaving him out there for big minutes if he's losing games for us, but really hoping this kid isn't buried in the G-League all year. I'm sure even the Warriors don't know what to do with him at this point, until they can work with him in training camp for a while.

Same thought. He can't shoot to save his life right now...but the form doesn't look bad and he has the range. If he can smooth out the consistency he becomes much more dangerous.

I can only hope Kuminga cannot shoot like Yanis as his ceiling. If he is better than Yanis, oh well.

Players shooting under 30% from 3 can play SF in the NBA. Position is more about defense than offense. Kuminga is going to be best setup to defend SFs. Kuminga will struggle more defending 5s and 4s than 3s
