Dang the Thunder have even more teeth on the perimeter. Dort and Caruso would be lethal, IMO tougher than the Minnesota perimeter defense with McDaniels and NAW.

25 points?!?
Giddey has maybe 18/9/9 potential but letting him handle the ball enough to get 18 points and 9 assists means your team won't win more than 30 games.
His only way out of this catch 22 is becoming a respectable 3pt shooter. Not impossible but not likely either imo.
He improved 10% from last season and shot 33%. He's only 21. With the Bulls shooting coach, he will improve. I can see the Bulls making the playoffs next season.

So you didn’t watch the Boston Celtics at all this year?

95% of the time there's a poll like this after a trade realgm gets it wrong. It's uncanny. Caruso is a 30 y/o journeyman role-player. He's overrated as a defender and he's undersized at the 2 where he's forced to play. Does he have value? Absolutely. Guys like him, Josh Hart, and Derrick White are integral parts of winning basketball teams. But Giddey is a 21 y/o legit starting PG. The only reason this trade looks even at all is because SGA needs the ball in his hands and so doesn't Giddey so they don't compliment each other well. If Chicago lets him run the offense you'll see how wrong you are about this trade. "But his defense!!" Yeah, name the starting PG with good defense. Brunson, Maxey, Trae, Luka, Garland, Cade, Fox, and Steph seemed to be able to make it work just fine. And at least Giddey has versatility due to his size so he's not a total zero like most of these other defensively challenged PGs. Great trade for both teams but value wise, the Bulls knocked it out of the park getting a 21 y/o starting PG and former #6 overall draft pick that they have RFA rights to for a 30 y/o role player with a year left on his contract and becomes a UFA.

At the trade deadline last year I thought OKC should've gone after Caruso and Drummond and offer some combination of young players (Mann, Jaylin Williams...maybe Dieng...maybe Micic who isn't "young") plus a pick or two.
Looking at the Western Conference Finals I bet Caruso and Drummond are enough for OKC to win that series. I'm not sure how they'd do against Boston.

So why don't you tell me how he's overrated as a defender again? Undersized at the 2? He's 6'5". How big are SG these days? The only versatility Giddey is good at is 15-17

Why does it feel like Presti is playing this game in easy mode?

Think this could benefit the Thunder in the short term, could even help them make a championship run, but feel like they could've gotten Caruso for picks and then gotten more for Giddey elsewhere. Idk. I get that Caruso is everyones favorite winning player and that aspect will be great, but Giddey could be a multi time all star. Averaged 17/8/6 at age 20. Caruso is 10 years older and does miss a lot of games, trade will look a little wild if his effectiveness falls off 2 years from now and Giddey is 20 PPG, just saying. I dont think every version of the way this could play out is "OMG YES THUNDER", that's all. Was a little surprised by the reaction.

I like it for both teams. Sure, maybe the Bulls could have gotten an additional late first out of it. But I think it's a good sign for the Bulls. They don't try to run it back to finish at 9 or 10 again. I'm curious to see if the Bulls will completely tear down their old core now to rebuild around Giddey, White and other young players.

Giddey could be multi time all star? He could also be a bum who's out of the league in a few years

This deal helps take the sting off Presti’s terrible trade deadline. Great deal for them. Now they need to add size.

Bull's won this deal. Caruso is too injury prone with the way he plays. I'd be surprised if he stays healthy to play over 60 games.

OKC don't need AC to play 80 odd games in the regular season. Just need him to be healthy and solid for the playoffs.

This is why I like posting on realgm. Non Thunder fans are more legit than Thunder fans. The Thunder fans are so uneducated it's just sad. Every one of then are eviscerating Giddey over his botched playoff performance without understanding he's only 21 and has been solid all year. They're basically celebrating this trade without realizing how good he can be. He's not exactly the greatest defender, but he's huge for the point guard position, and should be guarding guys who are much shorter and smaller, so his defense is good enough to contain them.
His passing is elite. This is exactly what the Bulls need.

This is exactly what they should’ve done they might’ve fared better against Boston then Dallas but they lack a 2nd scorer outside of sga it’s not much scoring on that team Chet is still growing they need a legit scorer on this team the finals would’ve still been over in 5-6 games tops with Boston willing because both okc&dallas lack scoring options kyrie couldn’t score on the road against Boston so that’s that okc only has scoring from sga

Great move, now they have a main guy for Irving, Murray, Ant, Steph, etc. They need another big, and they are going to be well improved with the inside growth.

Re: Woj: Thunder Trade Josh Giddey to Bulls for Alex Caruso
Im a giddey believer but he might very well end up as a rich man Killian Hayes if he doesnt improve his scoring skillset...
As of right now he has good floater a below average c&s 3 average average rim finishing average 1.7 FT in his career.
Feel like he's more likely on a trajectory to be like a secondary ball handler/weak side connector type.

They are top 5 in offense; what they needed was experience. Believe it or not, game 6 was when they clicked. They would of won it if Shai didn't foul that last shot.

Re: Woj: Thunder Trade Josh Giddey to Bulls for Alex Caruso
Okc preferred Caruso's present impact over Giddey's potential. simple as that.
