Why should they "get rid of either Dragic or Bledsoe?" Both are playing well and meshing into a very good backcourt. There is no chance that the Suns make a trade like this, especially when Melo has already stated his intention to opt out and become a free agent. If he were to do so, Suns would essentially be trading Dragic, Markief Morris, Plumlee, Okafor and "picks" for J.R. Smith as a net result. No one in their right minds would do such a thing.
The fact is that the Suns have assembled a team of inexpensive, hungry, team-oriented players who have more talent than some pundits have predicted and are playing respectable ball. They brought in a good GM and coach who have a plan and have as many as 4 draft picks in next year's draft. They are not going to waste their assets on a 1/2 season rental of an overrated "superstar" who has only gotten his team out of the first round of the playoffs once, and who has stated his intention to opt out of his max contract and become a free agent once the season is over. Not to mention taking on a gimpy knee chucker who has the rep of a locker room nightmare.
This is why the Suns will not make a trade with the Knicks and why the two teams are not good trade partners.
