Get Henson, Oladipo and a couple blue collar players, maybe some expirings, get rid of Felton and JR, even if it takes getting rid of anyone else not named Melo. That's what this team needs.

i'd probably do it, but I feel like JR still has some value to a contender. Also, don't think the Lakers want JR since they have Nick Young, who is JR with less tattoo's and no experience with Rihanna. If we could send JR to a 3rd team, say OKC to play the Harden role, in exchange get the pick they are owed from Dallas and send expiring to the Lakers. Lakers would save $6m in 2014 space space while upgrading the team, aka, they should also send an asset our way, say a future 1.
NYK:
Steve Nash
Future Dal 1st rd pick (from OKC - top 20 protected)
Future LAL pick (2019)
LAL:
Ray Felton
Expiring Contracts
OKC:
JR Smith
The question is weather we could then flip Nash to Toronto for Kyle Lowry, Landry Fields and our 1st rd pick in 2016 returned. Toronto has gone after Nash in the past and there is doubt they would the Canadian to end his career in his home country. In addition, they clear Landry Fields $8.5m salary next year at the expense of a late 1st. Not sure what the market will be for Lowry since he's a free agent after the season and if he plays like it worth resigning him it could cost $8-10 million per year. The Knicks would also benefit from having Landry Fields $8.5m expiring and 2016 pick to shop in the offseason.
Lakers would NEVER send a future first for Fat Felton

lololololol. knicks would have to be the one sending picks , and even then lakers wont do it.
Nash if he doesnt come back, has his contract covered by Insurance and will be off the cap.
if he does come back, he is way better than felton and on a shorter contract.

so you think the lakers would give up a unprotected first rounder to basically swap nash for felton? LOL cmon man you're dreaming
Look no further than the knicks as to what happens when you trade an unprotected first rounder a few years away.
t least nyk got an all star for it. LAL gets a guy that probably doesn't even start over blake.
Why don't they just try to send felton and that pick for lowry? TOR probably says yes
ONLY give up an unprotected pick when trading for an all star.

Pretty sure this has been answered before but if we traded for a first rounder would we then be in play for a legit tank into the lottery?

Technically yes, but the knicks cant just start tanking after trading for a first rounder because THEIR pick belongs to Denver..
If they trade for a 2014 draft pick, whatever record the team they got it from will determine the position they pick. What NYK does has no bearing on that pick they acquired.
#tankfordenver mean anything to you?

Would you do it?
Hahaaa why would Toronto make that trade .... Derozen or Lowery alone is worth more then all those players combined .... Amare![]()
![]()
Cause they get to move Derozan's contract?
Lowry has done about as well as Felton in their careers (it's actually a bit uncanny). They are both stocky PG's that aren't the best at running an offense nor particular good defenders, but can use their bulk to put some points on the board and make due as a starting PG (of sorts). Both has had one strong year in their otherwise mediocrish careers playing in an uptempo (high octane) system (Felton with D'Antoni in Stoudemire's 1st full season in NY, Lowry that half a year in Houston).
Obviously Toronto gives up more talent but they are also giving up the most talent in the Rudy Gay deal and if all that determines a winner in a trade is talent, Isiah Thomas would have won a lot of trades that he fubbed.
lol, if the Raptors really want to move Derozan's contract, they can do a lot better than paying Amare $20 million a year. At the very least, they'll ask for draft picks which the Knicks don't have.

derozan isn't even a bad contract, knicks would have to sweeten the pot.

Troll the Western Conference.
Melo for Ibaka, Lamb, Adams, Jackson + some picks.
Young PF, young SG, young Center, and young PG. All showing promising or playing well. Good start to a rebuild.
Thunder get a Melo, Durant, Westbrook combo with some decent role players around them.

Then NYK become a starless team. I don't think that ever happened. I know Knicks has been boring, but I don't think they were ever star less. They have broken ex-star, but still star.

Re: Knicks-Related Trade "THOUGHTS" Thread
I am now convinced this team is done for the season and ain't doing sh**. I think they should blow it up but realistically don't see Knicks doing that with this owner. It's crazy how he prefers to be in this situation over blowing it up. At least when you blow it up you have hope for the future.

Two ways to go: 1) Trade Chandler and whoever is on demand on the roster for picks and young players. 2) Fire the coach. Find somebody who wouldn't do favors to CAA clients. Go back to last year's rotations.
I am fine for both. I don't like what we are doing right now.

Any trade idea that doesn't involve the Knicks getting 1st rounders is just dumb.
And just like that, the lead has been cut to 8!

OKC chomping at the bit to give away 4 very solid youngins and picks for the privalige of watching Melo take shots from Westbrook/Durant at a 43% clip.
I'd be happy with Lamb, Jackson, Adams and 1 pick --- let alone Ibaka and multiple picks.

It was meant to be a silly post, but it is even sillier if you think Melo would be shooting 43% with Durant and Westbrook. Would be closer to 50% if not over. He would have a much easier time scoring and know he wouldn't have to do it all with two great team mates. He doesn't have that on NY currently.
