Wow we got hustled... we're giving up Favors, Harris, and multiple first rounders.... We gutted our team, and our future.

I don't like it at all.

The two posters above are correct. Nothing is official just yet. Broussard, whom I would throw a shoe at my television anytime I see him on ESPN, says there are conflicting reports.

Here's a thought -- since Melo would have to sign an extension, is it possible to backload his contract so that we have the most potential cap space during the first couple of years?

We need to make our next move quickly, before it comes time to renegotiate Brook's deal. Everyone pissing or cheering on this (potential) trade has to be aware that there is no way to truly evaluate it as of today. We need to wait a few years to know (i) were we able to make a deal for another stud? (ii) did Favors turn out to be a star, bust, or middle-of-the road player? (iii) did Devin recreate the form of 2008 or continue to miss 40 games a year? etc. etc.

Favors/Harris/Future first is too much without getting back Ty Lawson as well IMO. Augustine isn't enough.

Favors seems very legit, Harris is borderline all-star, future first is likely to be 7-15 range, thats a whole lot to give up

Congratulations guys. I was one of the few Bulls fans that was willing to throw in Noah in a potential deal to get Carmelo. Clearly, you guys valued Favors less than we valued Noah, and that's what got this deal done. Make no mistake, I think the Bulls were stupid for making Noah untouchable as it now appears highly evident, and it's going to now screw us royally in our extension negotiations. Personally I think the Nets may have overpaid, sending out Harris and Favors but it doesn't matter because you got the big fish.

What's done is done. Most NBA fans are underestimating the value of camaraderie and friendship, which is what you guys now have in your favor with 'Melo coming over to the Nets. I am almost 100% certain that CP3 or Tony Parker are locks to come to NJ now (and possibly both) as both are CAA clients, along with your new guy.

You guys want a superteam? Here it is. Your 2012 NJ (my bad, Brooklyn) Nets:

PG CP3
SG Parker
SF Carmelo
PF Murphy
C Lopez

Eva is gonna want a piece of this action. You think Lala wears the pants in Melo's house, I'm sure most people know just how much of an active interest Tony's wife takes in her husband's career. That team is going to be tough to beat, and arguably you have a big 4 if you play Tony at the off guard.

The CAA factor almost makes this a lock. Congrats, Nets fans. You guys will win probably 40 games this year, 50 with TP in the mix in 2011-2012, and when CP3 comes over you guys will be the team to take on the Heat and probably win 60 games.

I'm not rooting for the Nets or anything, because I detest that this is all blatantly a CAA setup, but I'm happy for you guys. Congrats again.
