The only way a thread like these stays on topic (or any thread) on any discussion forum stays on topic is if they are heavily moderated and edited.

If your educated guesses are valued more than others, the thread should be limited to what you say, and nothing else.

Agreed. Most of us are not scouts (I am probably the worst judge of college talent...ever) so we have no clue how these guys will pan out.

This draft is a crazy toss up of talent.

Lets just sit back and relax.

lol..he does look rather young.

Maybe that means he reverse Oden?

I'm saying though...Jeremy Lamb said he would compare himself in the NBA to Jamal Crawford. That along with him looking like he's mentally slow would scare me away from risking a top 10 pick on him. And even though he's got long ass arms he wasn't too great of a defensive player in college. His just all around effort on the court sucks.

How does he look mentally slow to you? I wouldn't judge a 19/20 year old kid by an interview conducted by numerous cameras all at once.

Does he look mentally slow to you on the court - when he plays basketball?

(Earlier the discussion seemed to focus on a kids mental ability not his basketball iq which are different things - like in the case of kevin garnett)

Trading away your best defensive player, we will be replacing him with a great defensive player but at a different position. Henson led the ACC in both rebounding and blocked shots and was the ACC defensive player of the year twice. He also runs great and can guard smaller players. He does give up post position some because of his lack of strength but it still is hard to shoot over him even with great position.

As a freshman, he was horrible offensively, and has gotten better and better and will continue to do so as he gains weight and adds strength, which he eventually will.

Many people forget he was hurt during the NCAA tournament with a thumb injury. He basically couldn't shoot or catch the ball without pain. So if that's all you saw him play you are missing out. The Sixers and a lot of other teams apparently love him and with good reason. He COMPLETELY shut down CJ Leslie of NC State last year, who a lot of people think will be a lottery pick next season. By shut down I mean the kid could barely get a shot off. Go back and watch the UNC - Kentucky game. Anthony Davis is only slightly better than Henson on the defensive end, he is a good bit ahead of Henson offensively. He is not as good as Anthony Davis, but the point is many of the same reasons people love Anthony Davis are the same reasons NBA people have such high interest in John Henson.

You guys that want to take a gamble and try to get really good in the future, Henson will allow you to do that because he is such a good defender and rebounder you can add an Al Jefferson type in the future (I know you can't trade Iguodala for both Jefferson and Henson) because you have a difference maker protecting the rim so you can acquire more offensive oriented players moving forward.

Appreciate the write-up, but John Henson is not an elite rebounder and his decent rebounding will most likely be downgraded to average or sub-par at the next level given his pathetic frame.

does sixerfan have anything on the GM search? Danny Ferry is now engaged in contract talks and looks to be headed to ATL per Woj. This after he wrote last week Ferry was our prime target. Apparently ATL is where he wanted to go (sure final say and power swung his decision)

Krazy, you've been pretty dead on with your posts. I will be so sad/upset if we pass on Drummond for Henson. I really will. Additionally, if we keep 15 we can likely get Perry Jones or Jared Sullinger and have our 4/5 of the future set along with our 1/2 or 1/3 in Holiday/Turner. But really, what world are we living in where Drummond is not an automatic pick over Henson?

Turner
Jefferson/Wright

Sixerfan1976, if we do get the #7 or #8 while keeping the 15, is it likely that we go big/small or small/big? I really don't see them picking Henson AND PJ3.

SixerFan1976

Can you post your best guess of what the actual trades would be for the lottery pick of:

1) Sacramento
2) Golden State
3) Toronto

Also, if we move to 5 do you think we would still target Henson? Or just at 7 or 8?

Ferry is getting more power in atl.

I dont think we trade with sac town. If we trade up its toronto or golden dt. Gsw higher percentage. If no trade up watch for utah and jefferson after draft
