werent you saying that about brook last offseason?

yes

and our rebounding was one of our glaring weaknesses from it.

How does shooting threes prevent lopez/mozgov from getting defensive rebounds? we werent dead last in second chance points allowed because of anything we did on offense

I reckon we keep Dlo but let Kswiss go asap.

While you're not a mod, to be fair I know I'm early on D-Lo and have seen more of his game than most here and not everyone else is ready to run him out of town yet, but I'll hold off on the D-Lo hating until we see more Nets games next season and it becomes more evident. Right now to many hopeful Nets fans, it probably just looks like I'm blowing hot air. I just was really put off by his lack of character in that interview, and hoping his mindset would have changed. Maybe KA can shape him up. But I dunno maybe some guys are just bad apples

you are delusional if you think that interview showed anything resembling lack of charecter. nevermind he has been in the gym twice a day every day since he got to the nets. i guess that shows poor work ethic somehow.

you "holding off" on hating him is irrelevant. you will find something to hate on no matter what. he'll score 30 and you'll call him selfish. he will drop 10dimes you'll hate on his defense. he will hit a game winner and you'll say lin carried us to get him in position to get that last bucket.

you dont like him. your LinSecure TM thats fine just keep the irrational stuff in the lin thread

how is he going to improve with less time on the floor to imrpove? platy him a ton against real top competition in live games so he can get better.

if we lose it doesnt matter season is about development not winning at this juncture

theier brains wont shut down... they will just tell us how lin won us the game on his 15/7/2 because intangables or something that night.

Brook shooting threes had nothing to do with how horrible we were on the defensive glass.

make or not make, our biggest big constantly pulled away from the paint had a influence in our rebounding woes.

now i see u typed defensive... mmmmmmmmmmmm whatever lol

We were last in the NBA in second chance points allowed. 3rd worst in defensive rebounding.

shooting 3s ddint impact that

Never a dull moment.

and if Lin shoots poorly, we'll have to defend him from the same trolls because you know regardless of his offensive output, Lin will be out there scrapping defensively, running after every loose ball, playing hard.

There has not been one game i've watched Lin play in a Nets uniform where this guy doesn't look like he's about to pass out because he's going 100% on every possession. I actually think a lot of his late qtr errors are due to strictly to fatigue because he plays so damn hard. Lin's my guy. I can do without the dirtbag trolls though.

Russell isn't without flaws, both in character and in skill. What we're hoping is that he gets to improve in both areas in this environment and I genuinely believe that he will.

I agree that we should give him a clean slate and give him a fair chance, afterall he's going to be here for awhile and is the future of this team.

He deserves more than a fair chance but we need to stop acting like he's some juvenile delinquent or ex-con. The only flaws I care for us to fix is on the court stuff like his efficiency and defense. He's a kid that will learn about life which will make him mature on his own time off the court. My experiences at 21 forced me to grow up faster.

It's a little annoying reading these posts all over about his character being poor when this is the same franchise that had a guy by the name of J-Kidd who used to beat his wife. He wasn't 21 either.

Lance Stephenson didn't even get nearly this much attention for pushing his pregnant girlfriend down a flight of stairs before his rookie season. He apologized and suddenly all is forgotten. Stephenson was supposedly an awful locker room cancer after the Pacers traded for Evan Turner. Yet, he was brought back to Indiana.

Yeah. Dude recorded a known moron bragging about cheating on his girlfriend and stupidly uploaded it. Immature and foolish, but not a criminal act.

Guys put more stock into him being a snitch than the actions of a man who slapped his wife in the face in front of his child. That speaks volumes to me.

This kid gets a clean slate here...for every post I read about his "poor character" I cringe. He's not a criminal, nor should he be treated like one.

yup. to me everything he has shown is super high charecter and high work ethic.

im not blaming Dlo because swaggy P wants to cheat on his girl. i mean he violated bro code for sure but certainly a high charecter dude. stays out of trouble and great work ethic

There's even a weird-as-hell "kinship" from having played for and been mostly tossed aside by that team.

Lin is thriving while healthy. I fully expect Dloading to do the same.

Cheers to that.

He reminds me of Paul Pierce with his style of play. nowhere near as big physically obv. but his style is slow, not very athletic, and kind of clunky at times, but it works. crafty.

Brandon Roy to me was also like that. He'd score on you in ways that didn't really rely on mind blowing athleticism.

D'angelo Russell is actually not a bad defender. Look at the stats (Pre-tank mode): via synergy (March)

His handles are wicked, he has very high basketball IQ, he has a real ease on the court - ike everything is happening in slow motion for him, he has a beautiful stroke, amd he has that swagger.

http://nypost.com/2017/06/27/what-does-dangelo-russell-joining-nets-mean-for-jeremy-lin/

Atkinson: we've got to get Russell better defensively

It needs to be. His 113 defensive rating was 402nd of 486 players catalogued by Basketball Reference. His defensive box plus-minus ranked 366th. Though his pick-and-roll defense isn’t bad, his physicality and team defense need work.

“We’ve got to get him better defensively. Physically he’s got a ways to go,” Atkinson said. “He’s a 21-year-old guy. We have the best performance team in the league — getting in the weight room taking care of his body and really taking another step there is going to be important in his development.

“His body has to develop. He’s got to make a jump there, and we’re going to push him to play better on the defensive end. … Physical development is part of it, getting stronger. It’s hard in this league when you’re not physically developed totally to be a great defensive player. He has the IQ, he’s got really good positioning. We did it with a team concept this year, and we need to push him to buy in.”
