The purpose of earning money is to make life better and happier and more secure. Not sure "settling" for $3+ million isn't enough for the security factor. And I'd imagine that he's never had a better and happier year in all his career. Obviously he's going to go, but it wouldn't surprise me if next February he'll look back and have some second thoughts.

That's just the conventional wisdom in those players environment, that the ultimate goal is to retire with as much money as possible... it's very hard to think for yourself when the echo chamber around you says "this is the right thing to do". In my experience people regret those things many years later (if at all). Understanding happiness is surprisingly hard, isn't it?

It seems illogical but I really think Bobby is possibly back. That Duncan Robinson interview set that tone for me. He genuinely loves the team, Giannis' work ethic & Khris' leadership.

They closed the interview with Bobby saying he's running his own race. So maybe he knows too, he doesn't have to sign the next big deal this week. It could be next year. I know that could go in other directions. But say it's a race to generational wealth vs. taking another big step in his game, as one of the top 3 players on a team or leading a team.

Charlotte just traded for Plumlee, I thought they would have been the most logical landing spot for Bobby.

If Bobby use his player option (he will), can we sign him for MLE then?

Also, we can agree something like Miami did with Haslem ;)

Do you mean if he opts out? Then yeah, the can use the tax MLE on him. Up to $5.9M in year one. They could include another player option for year two and would then have his early bird rights to offer up to about double that the following year. They can player option after that to then have his full bird rights to pay him whatever.

Lot of risk for Bobby to play that game to hopefully get the same contract from the Bucks that he could just sign with someone this off-season.

I think he’s gone and can’t blame him. The full tax MLE only guarantees $18M over three years. Some team will offer him 4/$40M or more. Any team with the non-tax MLE can offer 4/$41M.

Think San Antonio seems like a logical landing spot for Bobby.

I mean he was never going to opt in even if he wanted to resign with the Bucks.
