And this really where it comes down to. 'reasonably good numbers' is all he needs. And to have his top 5 overall team mate and arguably the best two player in the league to stay healthy.

Look at the media attention Jokic got by putting up 29/22/6 in a win against one of the best teams in the West vs LeBron's recent games vs the Cavs. It was night and day (looking at you ESPN)

I backed Jokic at the start of the year at a great price. So, naturally, he won’t win it. Congrats LeBron, you cheeky old bastard.

has to be embiid at this point.
luka and jokic are rising with their team records getting better and better.

Not in Luka's case, his team record is actually getting worse day by day recently.....
The KP deal is really turning out to be a disaster and is already undirectly tarnishing Luka's legacy comparing to the other all time greats.

I wonder how much time Kawhi will miss. The MVP race is still close so every game he doesn't play, while others continue to add to their stats is going to see him slip in the rankings. I have him 3rd behind Jokic and Embiid at the moment but I'm already contemplating putting LeBron ahead of him, while KD also isn't too far behind. Doncic and Vucevic have been lights out but you can't win MVP with a losing record and I don't think Giannis, Dame and Steph have played well enough to get serious MVP consideration. AD should be somewhere in the conversation but it's hard to win the award with LeBron on your team. Jaylen Brown is another guy who is still firmly in the race but if we're being realistic he's not a likely candidate.

If the Nets finish with top 2 record in the east, it's KD's. He is putting up efortless 30 per game coming off of achilles injury that ends careers normally.

I thought Embiid played okay against the Lakers, but he didn't perform the way an MVP would in the second half. He came out guns blazing in the first quarter but I missed his imprint during the second half, I thought Simmons had a bigger impact during that stretch. As for the Lakers, LeBron is playing Cavs mode again, as AD seems to continue to stink it up. Dude couldn't hit a free throw to save his life. Disappointed because I thought he would take that next step as an MVP candidate. I didn't think LeBron nor Embiid came out as a clear winner of that 'matchup'.

Davis has no business being in the conversation, right now he wouldn't even make All NBA 3rd team.

Based on what? He's 5th in WS and VORP.

I love Davis but right now he is not in the top 25 in scoring...

Lebron is now the betting favourite across multiple sportsbooks. He has taken the top spot from Luka as dallas continues to slip in the standings.

LeBron hurt him pretty good with that mid-air shove that stung his back when he landed. Probably even more emotionally when he realized the refs were going to let it slide. Doc said all the right things after the game. Embiid is going to have to stay healthy, and accept that ultimately folks don’t love Goliath. But LeBron wouldn’t have done it if Embiid wasn’t so dominant. Not flashy, like Ben, but constant. I’m glad this happened last night, and not in the finals.

yes, I'm sure he thought damn this dude is really good, might give him a push because he's so dominant. I swear some of you guys make stuff up for the heck of it.

Certainly wasn't Embiid's best game. Simmons advanced numbers look really good from that game yet he ended up a -11. Go figure.

I'm kind of 50/50 on the plus minus stat. The eye test is underappreciated these days. I thought he had a big impact and put pressure on our defense and made us think. I suppose there is no metric for that.

Yeah, Simmons was definitely engaged last night pushing the ball. Defensively, he's been great all season. Last nights Ben Simmons is the player the Sixers need if they want to make a run in the playoffs.

No, he thought “I think the big guy likes me. I’ll give him a love tap and then invite him over for lemonade after the game.”
