Only fair to give Baylor time.

I don't think this is another JR Giddens case.

Don't know if it's going to be similar to the 2008 Draft where the Cs got Giddens instead of DeAndre Jordan.

Brad took Baylor instead of Filipowski this year.

Initially, I was good with the pick. Watching him play thus far has really cooled me on him though. He has a LONG way to go and he is no spring chicken. I will be absolutely thrilled if he can eventually play any meaningful minutes here.

There have been a number of drafts where the guy I wanted was still on board, but in 2024 all the players I really preferred were gone by 30.

So far no big regrets on the pick, I just wish Baylor got a little more run. Like, if he started a game or two and had a chance to settle in with the more established payers and could focus more on his passing and shooting. I understand this is not in Joe's operating system though, and Scheierman will need to work his way up the ranks as he is able.

Maybe we'll see more of him in Maine this year. I won't be surprised at all if he gets occasional stat lines of 30pt 8rb 5ast from him, as defense is not big in G-League. Once he gets familiar with the system, we might see some spot minutes in Boston?

IDK, there verdict is still out, it's so early. I'm probably biased due to him being a 5-year college guy and not showing much.

OTOH, it would not surprise me at all to see him come in and knock off 2-3 3's in a few minutes while the opposing team is figuring out if they should guard him. He seems wired for heat check. If he's on, watch out, if not, there are seats on the bench.

Remember how bullish people were about the pick? This guy suggesting Scheierman leads the team in 3 point makes!

If Rico can play up to expectations, it makes the Lonnie Walker vs Jaden Springer debate moot. Having that extra shooter available is an asset in case of injury and currently, I'd rather have Walker/Springer over Scheierman/Springer. But he's got the first round guarantee.

It will be interesting to see if Baylor suddenly starts to click, at least on offense. I'm sort of expecting it, somehow.

he has some size, strength, and shiftiness to his game.
I am actively reminding myself that he has been a strong rebounder and passer.
His jumper looked totally adrift during preseason, like his GPS was off.

Does his body already look a bit more like an NBA player, or is it just me/just the black uniforms?

Honestly, Baylor with his athleticism just may not be an NBA player, which at least 50% of #30 picks in the draft are not. The problem is that we made the pick in the first place when we wanted to bring the back the title team and weren’t going to fill the 15th roster spot cause of the tax, so we just don’t have space on the roster for Scheierman. The last roster spot should’ve been Lonnie Walker or a ring chaser vet.

Scheierman will peak when he's 30 and we're gunning for our 5th championship in Stevens era. Arvydas Sabonis didn't enter the NBA til he's 31. It's all working out as planned.

I really hope they can get something out of Rico.

Some say how much can you expect because he's pretty much a 2nd round pick. When I hear that I keep on looking at what Myers did at GS.
4 trophy's, 5 straight finals appearances in 8 years. He knew who the core was and he added the right players. He gets KD for 3 years and wins 2 trophy's. A few years in row of high picks but gets Looney and Poole. And not for nothing, Poole was a great pick at 28 who turned out to be a big douche. Myers saw the need to have some type of bridge to keep things going until the inevitable lottery party.

Filipowski looking good against the Spurs.

Some of us wanted Flip over Baylor.

Hopefully Baylor pans out for the Cs or this could end up being similar to the Cs drafting JR Giddens instead of DeAndre in 2008.

If Stevens and Joe were looking for an eventual AL replacement, he checked every box when you look at him. Add to that, he dropped to the 2nd round. There's a reason they passed on him and I'm ok with that. They probably would have still signed XMan with the plan of developing that 3ball also. Also, it's not like he was taken right after Rico, Toronto was there at 31, so even more interesting because you know Stevens would have tried to move out of the 1st for cap reasons and potentially pick up another future pick if they could have.

JR Giddens, it does feel very similar. Giddens of course was also pick #30 days after we won the chip.

Obviously DeAndre would have been awesome playing lobs off prime Rondo, tho if I remember there were also I think five guys who went in the top half of the second round who had good careers as well. I’m thinking Chalmers, Asik, Goran Dragic. JR Giddens also was 23 at the time of the draft, so it didn’t take long to see if he was an NBA player. Scheierman even older than Giddens was, so giving a familiar uninspiring type of vibe.

Derrick White was taken at the end of the first round and played 139 total minutes as a 23 years old rookie. Sam Hauser played 158 total minutes as a 24 years old rookie. Neither was on a team as good or deep as these Celtics and had therefore way more opportunities to get on the floor. Payton Pritchard was taken at the end of the first round as a 23 years old rookie and even at the end of his third season he was still buried on the depth chart. Point is not everybody develops at the same speed or is instantly awesome in the NBA. That's fine.

Let's see him play a little against pros before declaring him a bust.
