He has no legs. Literally can barely jump anymore. He wouldn't get away with that in the NBA. Not to mention the guy doesn't care about much of anythinf.

This should be very interesting! I wonder if anyone has the balls to ask him if 26 other teams would still trade places, picks, rosters with us!

Other than that, I just find picks and prospects now far more appealing than a few years (and potentially less if he's not healthy) of an experiment. I also think if he fails to stay healthy with us or doesn't impact our competitiveness as much as we hope, the value we'll get from a subsequent Zion trade is very likely going to fall off a cliff. He would have then failed at New Orleans and Phoenix and while there may be teams that could talk themselves into giving him a punt, they just aren't going to give up much for him and then once again, we would've paid a higher value than what we would get back in a trade later down the track. Also Zion is almost 25 now and if he was to be traded from the Suns in a year or two down the track, he'd be 26-27.

The way I see it, a KD trade that maximises future value now would be far better than trying to recoup value with Zion if that experiment fails.

Sure that's a fair perspective man. Although there are two important considerations here:

1st- Even at 26 or 27, Zion would just be entering his prime years, and could evolve in a multitude of ways that would sustain his value and trade interest. And depending upon the give up for him in buying low, and again, the basically nearly zero financial risk involved, the value gap still might end up being minimal at best!
2nd- The bulk of influence on our decision to trade KD for Zion or another package will be heavily predicated upon what level of value is offered by various teams. If the value from other teams is really solid, then I wouldn't lose sleep passing on Zion as a target, but if it ends up low ball and lousy, then eeff them all and give me Zion over a craptastic meediocre value outcome!

Given his injuries, his build and all of the medical concerns about his longevity, he very likely won't age like your average NBA player. I have no doubt he's already in his physical prime and I do think he'll have a pretty short prime as well given his play style, injury history and again, the longevity concerns most analysts already had before he even step foot on the NBA court. The fact that he's played under 50% of possible games in his short NBA career should tell you those pre-draft concerns are still very much valid and he's done very little to refute that.

For me, it's not the financial risk I'm concerned with because I knew there are non-guarantees in his contract. It's the opportunity costs you're giving up to muck around with Zion. Sure you could cut him after really giving him a go but then you're left with nothing.

Which follows onto your 2nd point about value. We value Zion differently and I just don't see even a 1 for 1 trade for KD good value. I don't know what teams would give up for for KD but I would presume most trades would be better than just one Zion. I just don't understand the point of Zion UNLESS it's to stay competitive and we continue to throw caution to the wind, which I hope we don't.
bullsaficianado wrote:Maybe a 3 team deal with Rockets, Pelicans and Suns. I just hope we get some picks back for taking on Zion.

The good news is if Rockets trade for Durant Udoka might be available a year from now. :)

I mean.......

If (BIG IF) Zion works out, we get our picks back in order to tank....to get a guy as good as Zion could be? Actually his comps comign out were elite so probably less of a prospect than him.

More importantly, I just do not think Ish has the stomach to tank. We all can hope and wish for it and a complete tear down of moving Book, KD then letting Beal run the tank but reality seems to say Ish will not tank. More to the point, he wants superstars here. I'm starting to talk myself into this (big surprise, I know)

If we can somehow send KD to HOU and maybe they send our pick this year to NOP with some filler then send our other 2 picks back to us, along with NOP giving us Zion that would be a great outcome. We get some of picks back and roll the dice on a guy who can be a true #1 scorer and MVP level play.

Someone posted a poll on the trade forum on who has higher value KD or Zion.....and KD is winning 10-1 so far. If this can happen then HOU owes us some value.....we really need them to go down to the Golden State....

No doubt that KD has the bigger value around the league, Zion played just 30 games and his inability to play games it has happened too many times already in his career.

That’s why we would need to get more than just Zion if we are indirectly trading them.

The ideal trade with Zion would be Zion + good young player + draft capital for KD.

Just imagine that we get Zion + Tari Eason + 2 unprotected FRPs.

Id be fine with it even without Eason. I agree with GoK and think they won't trade him. Jabari Smith is the likely man out along with Brooks or maybe Jalen Green. Either of those guys will probably need to go to the Pels though as we cannot take that salary plus Zion's

FVV is the easiest and most logical move for the Rockets to match KD's (or Zion) salary.

Dillon Brooks is on a good deal and he is younger and more valuable than FVV.

Regarding Eason... I like him and I think he can be like Josh Hart. Perfect glue guy, two-way player. But I wouldn't be mad if we have to get Jabari Smith or Reed Sheppard in his place because they look good young players too

Cam Whitmore...I like him but I think his value isn't as high as those three.

Sheppard, Whitmore, two first rounders + filler and we have a deal.

Before somebody says Rockets wouldnt pay that KD with all their young core intact would put them in the ring contention.

Well that was a depressing read.

Why the hell did we trade our 2031 pick without even light protection for 3 low value first rounders? I may just end up tuning out this team until 3032 and hopefully by that time Ishbia will have faced bankruptcy and is forced to sell the team.

Knicks are 2nd apron. Best we can get is a single player from them. It'd have to be multi-team. Even then, KD isn't worth all that.

AI Overview

The New York Knicks are currently not over the second apron. They are projected to have $8,045,816 in second-apron space, meaning they are below the threshold.
Here's a breakdown:

Salary Cap:
The Knicks are over the salary cap, but under the second apron.

Second Apron Space:
They have $8,045,816 in second-apron space, meaning they are below the second apron threshold.

Impact of Brunson's Contract:
Jalen Brunson's contract decision played a key role in the Knicks staying under the second apron.

Trade Restrictions:
Teams above the second apron face significant trade restrictions.

So actually the Knicks are 8 million under the 2nd apron, and even sending out other players to a 3rd team ( prior to a KD trade) for smaller contracts or cap space and picks could get them more flexibility and assets to throw into a KD trade.

Of course we could just trade for a singular player in KAT which would work offensively, but KAT is just so very bad defensively that our outcome might actually be worse unless we can creatively surround Book and KAT with some high end defenders somehow using packages around Beal, Allen and O'neale.

Personally if getting KAT, I'd look at really aggressively trying to somehow get Isaac from Orlando and Sochan from San Antonio? That'd give us Dunn, Sochan and Isaac.

Then I'd look to trade back with Charlotte in the draft for their 33rd and 34th picks to take Rocco Zisarky ( Gobert 2.0) and Myles Byrd or JoJo Tugler at 34. Myles Byrd is a 6'7 version of Josh Green. And Tugler is a 6'8 version of Montrez Harrell with a ( 7'6 WINGSPAN)!!!

Really just load up on defensive players around Booker, KAT with a big two and depth pieces throughout the roster??

- Would Orlando do a Beal/ CLE 29' 1st for Isaac/ KCP/ Harris ( 7 million expiring) / Bidatze? ( Maybe pull a 2nd out of it) if lucky??

- Would San Antonio do an O'neale/ Richards for Sochan/ Wesley/ 26' 2nds deal? Because they could really use floor spacing, a quality low cost backup center and more vet experience around Wemby and because Sochan/ Wesley can't really shoot at all anyways? :dontknow:

Booker/ KCP/ Sochan/ KAT/ Isaac.
Paul/ Trent Jr/ Dunn/ Nance/ Bidatze
Gillespie/ Byrd/ KCP/ Bol/ Zisarky.

That's pretty crazy. I thought they were. I guess game on then if they do want to make a move.
I have to think if the Suns were going to move KD to them, it'd be for one of Mikal/OG and Robinson. Suns will still want to compete and that would give the team more energy/defense.

The law of averages would say that our next owner should fall in the range of a more normal, happy medium! :dontknow:

Sarver was cheap in his initial years but once we started getting good he wasn't really being a cheapskate and was willing to spend.

Sure the racist comments were made in poor taste but the media blew it out of proportion and he certainly was not a Donald Sterling, Silver panicked and forced Sarver to sell to the worst person possible mid season so I hate Silver just as much as I hate Mat Ishbia.

Doomed our franchise to be a basement dweller at least for the next 10 years so our only hope to get out of it is to nail our future lottery picks after 2031.

You're either OK with the casual racism or you're not. I'm not and I'm glad he's no longer the owner of the Suns

Also happy to be corrected but I don't believe Sarver ever paidthe luxury tax post the Nash Era. We were on the hook for it and he put together the team that ended up paying the tax but he never did. Ish had to foot the bill

Sarvers issues were correctable. There is no fixing Mat Wishbia.

I suppose on the surface, Wishbia looked the part. He had the wealth, desire, enthusiasm, and some bball background. Interviewed well obviously. Still was a forced sale, and theMadMatter jumped at the ego boosting opportunity. Should have stayed local instead of this delusional carpet bagger.

I will always give Sarver a cap tip for putting a goat in McDingleberry’s office.

Let's not make a saint out of Sarver. He was very bad owner. Ishbia's just unspeakably horrific so little Bobby appears a lot more acceptable from today's pov.

That article is why the Suns should trade Booker

Watching Levine play last night plus Beal is why the Suns should NOT extend him this year basically giving him a 5 year contract

Whats the rush - he is signed for three more years...
Ishbia has done a lot of stupid things -- so extending Booker three years early, well , at least two would be par for the course

Is anybody looking at Levine and Beal and thinking Bookers contract won't be an albatross if extended

Purely emotion - if not making a trade with Houston and for "players" -- I would prefer Mikal over Markkanen, Towns, Zion, etc - just because my favorite player

Realistically - if houston loses to the Warriors like 4-1 and they get desperate - thats the team to call!

Does this imply Jones will be back? If they aren't going to re-sign him then why would they keep him around? Him not already being fired makes me think he will. Disgusting. Jones back, a ridiculous crippling Booker extension, sending more assets out AGAIN to dump Beal. Unacceptable. Do the casual fans really care about Booker so much that they're going to keep showing up just because he's on the team? I truly wonder if there are fans that would rather have Booker than compete for a title
And I get it, there is ZERO guarantee trading Booker will lead to a title
I just think it has higher odds than keeping Booker, figuring out Beal and building a roster of minimum salary players or a guy on the MLE
Ishbia extending Booker - with three years left on his deal --without knowing what the roster will be ? How Booker will lead it is just stupid

in fact, extending Booker might be worse than his trades of Durant, for Beal and the Ayton deal

If they sign Booker to an extension AND trade at least one draft pick to move Beal -- 204___

I am not being hyperbolic. This offseason will set the tone for the next 10-15 years. Choose wisely Mat -- not emotionally
