Kevin Sheehan asked if it were obvious that things were being handled more professionally there.

"Um, yeah, it was very obvious," Haywood said. "It was very obvious. They had established the way things were done around there, and you were forced to basically adhere to a certain standard. We came from D.C., and that wasn't always enforced. In Dallas, it was something totally different, and we liked it. Just look at the structure, how things were done, the no-nonsense attitude and just how everybody got along and the family atmosphere. There was no agendas. That was something totally different for us."

Ernie. I can't possibly see how he's bashing Flip. Flip basically rode him like a horse while he was here.

check steve blake's box score numbers.

Was this in reference to the discussion on too-much homerism when discussing Terps in the draft?

No, the trade makes sense only if the Kings exploit Dalembert's blocks and rebounds to trigger transition opportunities, and don't make the same mistake as Eddie Jordan. The former Kings coach replaced Tony DiLeo's uptempo style with the more methodical Princeton offense and was fired at season's end.

 Eddie Jordan ran a great con there for a while selling that Weave & Heave offense of his.

Mike Miller today says he wants to play for a winner.

Thought it appropriate to include him in the former Wizards thread post haste.

Not that this team won't turn it around, eventually. Just that Miller's bailing and I say good riddance to a very reluctant shooter.

Speaking of former Wizards, they are playing old drafts on NBATV. Currently on pick 5 in 2003 (Wade to Miami). Only a few more picks until Arvis!

EDIT TO ADD: Wow, they just had David Aldridge on saying that Eddie Jordan turned down the following trade:

Wizards trade: Kwame Brown and #10
Wizards receive: #5

Heat trade: #5
Heat receive: #10 and picks from Seattle

Seattle trades: first round picks
Seattle receives: Kwame Brown

Yeah, I remember that the Wizards could have had the #5 pick- although I didn't realize they would have had to give up the #10 pick- which I would have done anyways because I hated Jared Jeffries even when he was Indiana. Funny thing is if the Wizards hadn't fired Michael Jordan, they would have done that trade.

We drafted Jarvis Hayes in 2003.

Whoops, my bad. All the memories of suckiness are blending together. But to be fair, Jarvis looked like he had more potential than Jeffries before he suffered those knee injuries.

I thought Jarvis might really turn into something on both ends after his first year. Nice guy too.

Speaking of former Wizards (well, Bullets) didn't Krizko Zero just find that Manute Bol is credited with the phrase "my bad." Just want to pause and again salute an honorary former Wizard.

I'm sure Ernie would have done it, too. We could have had Wade and Arenas that summer...

EG was still the GM of the Bucks IIRC so that wasn't an option. He drafted TJ Ford in the first round. To be fair to Wes Unseld, the Wizards did get Steve Blake in that 2nd round of that draft which wasn't bad value. Speaking of Blake, I wonder if it would have been better in 2005 to keep him for cheap rather than bringing in Antonio Daniels for the MLE- although eventually Blake became overpaid by the Portland Trailblazers after 1/2 a good season with the Nuggets.

Certainly think it's more likely that Jordan would have pulled the trigger on a Kwame Brown trade given his dislike for Kwame Brown and his propensity to make trades (see Richard Hamilton for Jerry Stackhouse). Although you would have to wonder if he would somehow have screwed up the pick given his other picks with the Bobcats.

Randy Foye to the Clips. Doesn't strike me as a good fit. Don't they need some size and D in that back court?

You've got your picks and years and memory all screwed up for a young guy, LR. Too much EG jock riding ....

I did really want Sweetney at #10 when the Knicks got him at #9. The guy you IIRC and others really were pining for, Jarvis Hayes, at #10, was pretty doggone weak as a player.

I liked Ridnour, Nick Collison, David West, Marquis Daniels, and Keith Bogans more than Jarvis. Heck, I confess I liked Reece Gaines more than Jarvis.

I confess I thought Sweetney had ROY potential because of the games he played against Melo and Syracuse. I was way wrong in not trusting how good James could be out of HS. Also, should have known Dwayne Wade would be terrific--so I was blinded by Sweetney that season.

But to tell you the truth, if all you can pick out is a bad pick from 2003 (Sweetney) and one from 2006 (Almond) I can live with that.

What gets me is how I can say don't resign Gil or Antawn because they don't play defense, Gil is an injury risk, and this team will be stuck with cap problems and a weak team for years and years--that you can think I'm off base. Your boy EG didn't draft Millsap, either. Or Blair. Or Steph Curry. NO, he traded them for Foye; who YOU said would be better than Steph Curry.

LR, you can point out Sweetney all you want .... I'm twice your age and have had real psychological woes, but my recollection is better than yours on who can play and who can't.

Well, they're the Clippers, I mean, they wear shorts, they run around and they get paid. It's not really a matter of "need" exactly, no?

Best case, worst case, it's almost indistinguishable.
