Lawson, I find very unlikely. And given we're picking in the range to get the guards highly undesirable.

I could see something where we move from #4 to #7 to pick WCS, and Lawson goes to a third team:

1. DEN gets: Calderon and #4
LAL gets: Lawson
NYK gets: Clarkson, Jordan Hill, and #7

2. DEN gets: Calderon and #4
IND gets: Lawson
NYK gets: George Hill, Mahinmi, #7

3. DEN gets: Calderon and #4
HOU gets: Lawson
NYK gets: Jones, Papanikolou, #7

4. DEN gets: Calderon and #4
UTA gets: Lawson
NYK gets: Hood, Booker, #7, #12

5. DEN gets: Collison and #4
SAC gets: Lawson
NYK gets: Mclemore and #7

I usually hate to trade away draft picks as a throw away. But I also don't believe the probability to catch a star are worth the tanking in general and I always find it befuddling to trade performance now for potential to reach the same perfirmance or slightly better later. Having said that here' what I would do.

Calculating with a cap of 68 and 34 in cuŕrent salary I would deal Early plus No4 against Lawson and Faried to facilitate Denvers rebuild.
If taken on as cap the salaries will eat up 24 of the 34 mil that we have. But if we can talk Denver into having this deal ready to triģger once FA starts, I would up to the amount that is available for Monroe, eg a 4yr deal worth up to 62m.

I then resign the previously renounced Shved and Aldrich against min salaries and am left with

Lawson - Galloway - Melo - Faried - Monroe with a bench of Calderon - Tim Jr - Shved - xy - Bargnani and the room exception. If I find a taker for Calderon, this would even enable me to take on another max agent in 2016.

With this roster I compete during Melos window but will probably not be the favorite. However most of the contracts expire aroud te same time and Faried and Monroe are young enough for another extension, I could then either write off a season where I test gems and aquire a high pick or I could reload on the fly. Maybe Ill even be able to ship out Melo in 2 years to another "contender" Boston KG style

Uh, of all those, scenario 4 makes the most sense for the Knicks, but in all of them the Knicks are getting the short end of the stick. The Knicks get the worst draft pick(s) than their original #4 pick and the worst player(s) given how Lawson is a better player than all these guys. Why take a down grade of a draft pick of Lawson isn't even coming back to us? Also #1 makes zero sense since Jordan Clarkson is already on the Knicks in the form of Langston Galloway...low upside guards who are 22/23 years old is not what we need more of-the Knicks don't benefit from that deal at all.

I'm not as high on Lawson, especially with the slow pace system we're building here. Taking back several players makes a lot of sense as we are severely lacking depth. I'd like 4 a lot... Hood looked very good this year.

I could see us being in the mix for an Iggy salary dump. He's 31 but looks great right now and he'd give us some much needed playmaking and defense in the backcourt. He makes a little over $12m right now but it goes down next year.

WADE AND SEE

If Dwyane Wade does the unexpected and leaves Miami he could end up in one of two places; Los Angeles (Clippers) or New York.

For Wade to join the Clippers and his good buddy Chris Paul it would take some creativity since the Clippers are over the salary cap. The Knicks and Carmelo Anthony have the cap space but would Wade want to join a team that won 17 games last season?

Each one of these trades have the Knicks trading a possible star for scrubs and a #7 :banghead: O&B your better than this, if the Knicks trade the #4 they better get a star or possible star.

Stop it wade makes us an immediate playoff contender. Who wants to face a healthy Carmelo Anthony & Dwayne wade in the post-season. Hell were in the East we going to the Eastern conference finals

I would rather get a star through free agency. The pick is our only chance to get talent on rookie contracts. There are not many players out there who will be on rookie deals the next two off seasons and can also step in contribute to this team and system right away. I think Hood is one of them. He's not a future MVP but he's got a very balanced offensive game and good size for the 2.

I like Hood but he's 22-23 with no upside. At 19, Justise Winslow is a better defender and rebounder whose shot is still improving (his shot is where Hood's was before transferring to Duke from Miss State). Hood is 6'7 without shoes (6'8 with) whereas Winslow is 6'4.5 w/o shoes (6'6 with), however, Winslow has a better wingspan and standing reach than Hood: compare 6'10.25 wingspan and 8'8.5" standing reach for Winslow vs 6'8 wingspan and 8'7" standing reach for Hood. Winslow plays bigger than his raw height because he's got the length of power forward despite the height of a Shooting Guard. Winslow's steal % 2.8 and block% 2.9 at Duke was better than Hoods 1.3 steal % and 0.8 block % (Winslow's got active hands and the length to bother ball handlers and shooters alike). Winslow's total rebound % at Duke was 13.1 compared to Hood's 7.2 (Winslow's length and bigger frame allow him to crash the boards at a better rate). Winslow's D-Rating at Duke was 95 compared to Hood's D-Rating of 107 (Hood's rookie year D-Rating was similar to what he did at Duke in 2013-2014).

Give me the player whose 3-4 years younger, with upside to be a better player, whose also a better defender and rebounder coming out of the same college.

We would still need LMA---if we put too much on Wade it might become another Amare situation.
LMA/Melo/Wade. that's a big 3---small window---but still a ECF birth fo show.

LMA should wait in 2016 to get paid... If he does that sacrifice for us, he may deserve a statue in Manhattan :D

But not sure if the league allows those kind of moves when someone takes a huge paycut like this!

Malone and Payton though were signed for the vet min in 2003-04 Lakers team!

Indiana with a healthy Paul George is going to still get in the way of that hypothetical Knicks team's chances.
