My plan as stated in a previous thread.

Amare, Shump, plus for Gasol plus
Felton, 2018 for Lowry
Bargs for Okafor plus

Puts us in position to be players this offseason being around 10 million under the cap(-cap holds), while still putting out a competitive team this year

Chandler
Gasol
Melo
JR
Lowry

are you speaking in general or asking the laker fan? personally, it would take more then even a first round pick for me.

You didn't factor in Gasol and/or Lowry's capholds did you? Definitely not Gasol's if you think they will be able to get $10 million under the cap since Gasol's caphold is monstrous thanks to him making $19.5 million this season. So is your plan to simply decline Gasol's rights and let him leave?

Yup, whether it get us 10 or not it still puts us in position to start building a team around Melo, I just can't see how this team is gonna improve with only 3 million to spend this offseason.

for who? wade nor james are coming here next off season. the rest of the 2014 FA is filled with poop sandwhiches. we have a miniscule shot with the fa's in 2015. if that.

how are the knicks NOT trading with the suns right now...dammit.

Ofcourse Dragic is exactly what we need. But exactly what do we have that Phoenix wants?

Melo to Clippers, Blake Griffin to PHX and package of young players/picks to Knicks.

Gasol's cap hold after this season if the Knicks were to trade for him would be 150% of his salary for 2013-2014. Since his salary for 2013-2014 is $19.5 million the cap hold would be 1.5 x 19.5 = $29.25 million. That would count against the Knicks cap until they either resign him or renounce his rights. This means even if they somehow pull a miracle out their pockets and trade both Stoudemire and Bargnani for nothing but expiring contracts while also trading Chandler for contract(s) that don't extend past this season, they would have to either quickly resign him (which would put the leverage completely in Gasol's agent's hands) or renounce his rights (meaning he won't be a Knick next season) if the plan is to somehow capitalize on the 2014 free agent class. Carmelo Anthony and Gasol's cap holds ($32.1 + $29.25 = $61.35 million) would exceed the expected cap all by themselves and essentially kill the Knicks shot at signing anyone this summer...even with no one else here.

I know Asik is on the block and the celtics could be interested (bass or green).

Is there anyway we could work out a 3 team deal.

I checked this in the checker....it works.

NYK Trades: Andrea Bargnani, Iman Shumpert, Amare Stoudemire
NYK Receive: Jeff Green, Brandon Bass, Gerald Wallace, and Courtney Lee

HOU Trades: Omer Asik and Ronnie Brewer
HOU Receives: Andrea Bargnani and Iman Shumpert

BOS Trades: Jeff Green, Brandon Bass, Gerald Wallace, and Courtney Lee
BOs Receives: Omer Asik, Ronnie Brewer, and Amare Stoudemire

Why for every team?

Knicks: Jeff Green and Bass are great compliments to Melo (Green would thrive and is the perfect stretch 3/4 to play with him). We have to take on the large contract of Wallace and Lee but we wouldn't have to give up any picks in the deal.

Houston: Trying to find a trade partner for Omer Asik. They get a Bargs who is a nice fit next to Dwight Howard and Shumpert is a good defense guard to go nicely with Harden.

Boston: They trade Green, but keep Rondo as a piece they could trade for picks or hold on to them. Yes they trade Green but they would rid themselves of all there terrible contracts. They get a future center to build around and they get Amare to help them tank. They can also you him as a expiring next year. (boston could also re-work the deal if we don't take on wallace and lee for amare (we could give them a protected 1st) but I want to keep the first out so I will take back to terrible contracts with an extra year for boston.

Who says no?

Knicks Lineup:

Pablo
Lee
Green
Melo
Tyson

(great defense great shooting for starting lineup) - I think that starting lineup compliments Melo perfectly.

Bench:

Felton
Hardaway
JR
Wallace
Bass

thoughts?

I would certainly consider David Lee for Andrea Bargnani swap if GS is still interested.

no thank you, lee has an extra year on that deal cutting into our 2015 space and you should ask warriors fans what they think about him. He is a stat whore but is just a turn style on defense. At least bargs is a good man defender and can block shots.

I'm not opposed to trading bargs but I do not want another one dimentional limited player especially on a 3 year contract.

He and Melo would be a terrible 3-4 next to each other.

then throw in the fact bargs has a year less on his contract and can defend Centers allowing Tyson to roam and be the help defender.

its starts to even out...

It doesn't because Bargnani sucks even more with Tyson on the floor and a broken down Tyson can't guard PF's.

Send shumpert+mwp+2nd rounder for asik.
Send chandler to phx for 2 1st round picks.

Use these 2 first round picks with rondo trade.

Rondo+green for Stat+2 first round pick.

Its like 4 team deal. Cap holds can be adjustable i think add 1~2 players more.

Rockets get good young perimeter defender. Get rid of asik's contract.
Celtics get 2 first round pick which is essential.Stat would sell gear, tickets and also make them worst team in nba for sure.
Phx get chandler which has finals~playoffs experience and pretty good defensive guy.
Knicks get asik rondo and green.

Rondo~thj~melo~green~asik.
This roster would grest fit for melo on.both defence and offence.

that was when we were playing Tyson at the Center and Bargs at the PF. Woody knows that Bargs is better at defending post up 5's. So now we can play Tyson at the 4 and he can be our P&R big.

Makes much more sense than have a lee and melo 3-4 which would be brutal!

first off for as bad as a defender bargs is Lee is worse, start reading the articles and any saber-metrics stats on Lee's horrendous defense.

Tyson also switches onto guards so he is more than capable of defending the david wests, kevin love, and paul milsaps of the work if we need to go down that root.
