Yeah this is likely but Schroeder has also played well as a starter.

Lakers could look at this:

Schroeder, DLo, LeBron, Vando, Davis
Lonnie, Reaves, Rui, Gabriel, Bamba

True. The other thing is that Rui has also played well as a starter and developed some good synergy in limited minutes. The LeBron+Rui pairing is +15.8 per 100.

All of a sudden, the Lakers have gone from one or two workable lineups to many.

True, Rui could start still. I just expect Vando to take the role eventually.

But if Lakers get Danny Green then they go with:
Schroeder, DLo, LeBron, Rui, Davis
Reaves, Beasley, Green, Vando, Bamba
Lonnie, Reed, Christie, Brown, Gabriel

I think guard defense is going to hurt them at some point but it's a deep roster and in the playoffs you get LeBron defending hard.

Still question the wisdom of trading Bev in a guard heavy Western conference. Every other team has their best player there. Doesn't matter how overrated his D was.

Which buyout player would you go for?

Looking for a guard that's better than Lonnie or an SF that's better than TBJ

This board hates Lonnie, but I dunno I like him in a bench role. Instant offence, miles better than bonehead Westbrook.

Also if the Raptors fire Nick Nurse then can the Lakers get rid of Ham for him?

I’d LOVE this. Nurse isn’t perfect, but he sure is excellent. At least we know Nurse wouldn’t look to play a 4 guard lineup LOL.

Ham is an F coach honestly, the (Please Use More Appropriate Word) starts both point guards together and then benches both (with AD out and no Lebron playing)....

Rui continues to miss shots....

Loving what I am seeing from Vando though

I am unsure if he can/should start though with AD and Bron

Spacing would be a bit poor, probably fits better with Bamba, but I am open to it b/c the defense would at least be solid

A live/ active rebounder that you have to put a body on also creates space. I don’t see a problem starting Vanderbilt alongside LeBron and AD.

Rui Hachimura is not providing any type of spacing.

I mean the guy is shooting over 52% from mid range this season, so some spacing

Not a great 3 pt shooter though, but much bette than Vando

35.5% 3 pt shotoer for his career for 1 make a game. Shooting 34% this season

I would still go

Dlo, Reaves, Rui, Bron, AD
Schroeder, Beasley, Troy Brown/Christie, Vando, Bamba/Gabriel

Lonnie

Sadly Ham is still a moron and starts both point guards together and doesn't fully understand that Reaves can also be our POA defender

Will there even be a next season with this team? What's the contract situation with these guys? Looks like a crazy expensive team to keep together. You know your ownership better. Also remember anyone who balls out on a Lebron team gets noticed so competition will be crazy for anyone actually worth keeping.

DLo (20), Reaves (7), LeBron (47), Vando (4), Davis (41)
Lonnie (6), Christie (2), Rui (8), Gabriel (2), Bamba (10)
FRP (3), SRP (1), MLE (12), BAE (4)

That 14 man roster costs $167m, luxury tax line is likely $165m and hard cap is likely $170m.

So the roster should be relatively cheap to keep together.

You think they won't pick up Beasley's option?

Dlo and Rui would get around 23-26 and 12-14 accordingly

Lonnie should be better than he his given his athletic gifts, but due to overall poor decision-making on defense and overall low effort on that end, he doesn’t make an impact toward winning margins and never has in his career. To be a player who plays on a modern day playoff rotation, you have to be above average at at least one thing and not a big liability in another. Walker isn’t really above average in anything and also pairs poorly with James—he’s literally the only player who has played rotational minutes whom James is a real negative with On court (-4.4 per 100; James is also -1.2 with Bev).

I don't think you want roster flexibility for next offseason. The FA market is mid and that usually means bad contract overpays for role players

Yes you pick up Beasley.

1) You are already operating as an over-the-cap team
2) You gain his salary salary ballast for a trade

Lonnie has the worst on/off splits (-7.6) of any rotation player on the team and by a really wide margin too. You have to be a special kind of bad on defense for that to be the case because he's a handy offensive player. For a while he was the team's only reliable 3pt shooter.

He actually made comments on this a while back. He said he intends to give LeBron less minutes and has rest lined up in the 4th for him but every game is close and he ends up needing him out there. He even stated that every game he himself is shocked by how much he played LeBron.

Just a bad coach. No plan, just feeling it out on the day.

Let's see how well Beasley plays first. I don't like him as a player, never seen his game translate to impact. But I'll try keep an open mind
