Yeah, Shabazz is not going to be there at 10, he will move up the draft board for sure. Dunno if there's a chance we could move up for him or even if we should. He's not exactly what we are looking for, but is certainly an intriguing prospect.

As I wrote in the other thread, I'm starting to like the idea of drafting Steven Adams.

Great potential AND great fit.

Yes, he is raw but his rebounding, hustle and defensive presence will be very valuable from day 1. Same as with guys like Drummond or Faried, who are also very raw but have one or two outstanding qualities coupled with a good enough BB IQ to contribute right away.

Who knows anything about Michael Carter-Williams??? Is this kid going to be a player? I'm just wondering about his size. He could backup both the PG and SG positions. He would always be the PG so when he and Lillard are on the floor, Lillard would slide over to the SG position on offense and would excel!!! Carter-Williams is big enough to guard most SG's. Now, having said all of that, I've never seen the kid play. I just see that he's a top 10 selection on many websites and he is a big PG. His assist, rebound & steal numbers are good, but his shooting percentages rather blow.

Anyone? Anyone? Beaulier? Beaulier?

Is Cody Zeller the big guy the Blazers should go after? Can they possibly move up in the draft to get him?

Carter-Williams is returning to college

Nobody in this draft at Center is worth drafting IMO. I'd take Meyers over all of them...

If the Blazers are looking for a young sub for Aldredge and maybe an eventual replacement, then yes, Zeller should be taken. If looking for a starting center or even a back-up center( except when going small and fast) for the next two years, then no, Zeller should not be taken. Maybe after two years Cody will physically mature and toughing up adequately for a starting C. There is a decent chance he will still be on the board at 10.

Looks like you guys are going to trade the pick for a starting Center.

3 guys come to my mind, Varejao, McGee and Gortat.

Yup this whole thread is point less now, players aren't gonna want to workout with us now, they know we don't want them... Also add Hibbert to that list and Deandre Jordan. Oh and get rid of Varejo he is as injury riddled as Oden..gosh.

Does Olshey already have a draft day trade lined up?

Portland will still do their due diligence and if there is no draft day trade, Portland
will have to proceed as if they intend to keep that player. Players will work out
for us because its in their interest to do so.

If Neil already has something lined up he is going to look forward thinking and shrewd on draft Fay when it happens...if he doesn't he is going to look desperate and the sharks are going to smell blood in the water. I hope he knows what he's doing tipping his hat like this. I'm so tired of us being average - to below. I want to be excited again. Neil you gave us Damian and that has earned you a little slack but don't eff this up!

I don't think so...but you may be right.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

I am not sure Carter-Williams would be a good pick for us. He might be 6'5 but he doesn't have a ton of weight or athleticism so he would still be a mismatch defensively against SG's. His ceiling is a little higher than what Maynor is now, since he isn't exactly a shooter either. If we were looking to another guard to pair Lillard with, I would be very interested in McCollum.

OK. So I thought I'd ask what are your hopes within reason for this draft? Other than winning the lottery what are you hoping will happen? My pie in the sky pipe dream is... Shabazz @ ten or reasonable trade up (cash a future second ect.) . Trade #thirty-nine and forty to move up in the late first for Dieng. If we somehow have our last second round pick available take whatever Euro our scouts have the most hope for. Not likely I know but I would go to sleep on draft night dreaming of a Rip-City return to glory.

Drafting Steven Adams would get you that young defensive center who could improve on offense as well.

I am not a huge fan of Adams.

Compared to other centers in the draft, this is how his per-minute stats rank:

1. Offensive rebounds: Rank #1
2. Defensive rebounds: Rank #10 (last)
3. Assists: Rank #9
4. Steals: Rank #5
5. Blocks: Rank #3
6. Points: Rank #10 (last)
7. FT attempted: Rank #10 (last)
8. FG%: Rank #6

So it looks like he is a good offensive rebounder and shot blocker, but average or below average at everything else. The worst per-minute defensive rebounding has got to be a concern for us.

1. Trade LMA for TT and the Cavs 2013 and 2014 picks.
2. Trade Wes to Minny for the 9th pick
3. Draft Zeller/Bennett, Shabazz/McCullom/Caldwell-Pope, and Len/Olynek in the first round
4. Draft Green, McDermott, and Muscala in the second.

tank hard for Wiggens and maybe even Parker as well in 2014.

Lillard/Green
Shabazz/Barton
Batum/Shabazz/McDermott
Thompson/McDermott/Zeller
Zeller/Muscala/Len/Leonard

That is a TON of assets. You could role with that team for years and probably be a contender, especially with Wiggens and Parker ala OKC. Or you could make some splashy trades for Vets ala Boston.

Why do the Cavs make that trade?

I've explained why in a few other threads. But basically Wolves fans love Wes. They always have great things to say about him. In addition to that they need a starter at the 2 like nobody's business. Love is tired of losing and the last thing he wants is a unknown rookie developing while he's trying to get into the playoffs for the first time.

Cavs fans pan this trade idea, but they shouldn't and there's no way their gm would too. Lma makes them a playoff team, which is something they need to do sooner rather than later if they want to keep Kyrie happy. There's already rumours that he's getting really tired of tanking. They also have the cap to fill out their bench after absorbing Lma. Another factor is LeBron. Why would he want to come back home with a bunch of young prospects filling out his bench? With lma, oden(I'd bet money he signs there) Kyrie and Waiters already on board, all you have to do is plug LeBron in at the 3 and you have a contender.

I know there are a lot of variables, but it's a slam dunk for all the teams involved. You have to swing for the fences in this game.
