Well it sort of is now or never because it’s going to be hard to re-sign both Harris and Butler and you’ve already sacrificed so many assets for the pair and for what? A first/second rd exit? That’s a disaster.

As for the four names you mentioned - one is a bust and the other 3 are totally unproven.

It will be easy to resign because they have the money

And no need to think this team (except for injuries) would face a 1st round exit.

But still feel Boston/Toronto have the experience (and chemistry) advantage.

Until next season that is, especially when Kyrie and Kawhi are not on those teams anymore

As a Nets fan, Tobias Harris was someone I saw as a realistic target for Brooklyn this summer. With that said, kudos to Elton Brand and the Sixers for going all in and committing to winning now. It will certainly make for a fun postseason.

Interesting that the Sixers are going to try and resign both Harris and Butler. I wonder if they’ll offer 3 year contracts that expire along the same time that Simmon’s extension kicks in. I actually love this trade for the Sixers. The type of all in move that teams that want to win a championship make. I like the fit for Harris.

For Clippers it makes sense as well. Get some picks and now they don’t have to give their pick to Boston. However if they miss out on a superstar free agent then it’s going to be a long rebuild.

Simmons is in his third year of his rookie contract now so his max would kick in in 2020-21 season. I doubt Butler or Harris would be happy with 2yr contracts...

Thanks for clarifying. I forgot that he was drafted in 3 years ago even though this is technically his 2nd full season. So assuming both Harris and Butler get maxed out it means at one point Sixers will be paying 100 million for 4 players.

As seen last year vs the Celtics in the playoffs, they need an alpha dog in the playoffs. Covington and Saric are clearly not that, Butler can be. Plus Convington played like crap in that series.
