Yes, even if he is just a catch and shoot guy coming off the bench that is the skill that keeps you relevant. The NBA now is shoot or kick rocks. Knox has a pretty rainbow three. It has value in the league if he can keep making improvements to the rest of his game.
I appreciate RJ's effort, that he is playing defense and hits the boards, but he is not elite at anything and if you're going to be a glue guy you cannot be one of the highest usage players on the team. When you handle the ball as much as he does you have to be able to make shots. If he was primarily an off-the-ball player who took fewer shots maybe there'd be some way to figure this out.
The offense going through RJ, Payton and Randle doesn't work. Randle passing from the point of attack was working earlier because he can make shots.
At this point, I'd bring RJ off the bench and hope Burks gets back soon. Frank too. He was playing well enough and making his limited shots.
The problem also is when you're young and struggling, playing the most minutes in the league is not going to help. Burning him out is not the way to get RJ on track.
