There were reportedly multiple NBA teams looking to sign him. I can see why they'd focus on him now, because if they feel he can handle the PG duties it frees them up to trade for or draft guys who can score. Otherwise, they'd have to focus on finding a playmaker.
Getting Luca could be like getting Pablo Prigioni before he entered his prime. Instead, we got Pablo at the end of his career and like Kidd he was still good, but in limited minutes. Imagine if we'd gotten Pablo 8 years earlier. He would have been the Knicks starting PG for a decade.
I wouldn't hype Luca at this point, but I also would not be surprised if he were a key player for us next year.
