Thats not an excuse for him playing like **** all year. You guys are making excuses for Harden like the reason hes palying bad is without being Kyrie for a few games.

In reality KD was busting his ass playing 40 minutes a night and Harden was playing like garbage,

I'm pretty sure Harden can survive playing six weeks without KD or Kyrie for home games until KD comes back from injury. Its not some impossible task.

Players like Jokic or Embiid have been playing all season without much help. And you don't hear a peep out of them.

I really don't care about Harden enough to make excuses for him. I don't know the individual and I dislike his playing style. So, yeah, I have no intention of defending him or anything. The reason why I replied to your original post is that I simply cannot comprehend how you can say that a player who has only played 11 games this season "plays hard every game". That's what my objection was about.

Even if Kyrie has gone 150% in those 11 games he has played so far, that's simply not enough to make up for the other 43 games that he has missed.

Injuries can happen to anyone. Do I have to just assume that KD, Kyrie, and Harden will get injured again this playoffs?

I don't. I think its definitely possible that they don't.

I've been very critical of Kyrie. I wish he would take the shot. But if you think thats the main reason the Nets are imploding youre not paying attention.

Nets fans are not at all turning on Kyrie. In fact Ive seen more Nets fans turn on Harden.

At least Kyrie plays hard every game. Harden has basically quit.

I think Kyrie is misguided and being stupid. But I don't think hes a bad person or teammate for not wanting the vaccine. We all have people in our lives who don't want to take it. It just sucks that this is the situation.

I'm hoping the mandate gets repealed soon and Kyrie can play. Or at least that natural immunity will count instead.

To be honest, I do not have a SINGLE PERSON in my life - either in my family or among my closest friends - who has not taken the vaccine. They believe in science. They believe in contributing to a safe community. They believe in setting an example for the people around them.

I am very sorry that you have people in your family or orbit who are not vaccinated. I hope they stay safe.

Just keep them away from my family. Thanks.

Having this close minded elitist attitude is not helpful.

I am 100% pro vaccine. Are there idiots who believe they shouldn't get the vaccine because they are anti-science? Yes

Are there also people who are skeptical of the government and don't want to be forced to do things? Also yes.

There are also people who are poor and literally can't get to a vaccine site. And don't have cars to get there.

If you really don't know anyone who is unvaccinated then you must live in some bubble. And need more exposure to the world.

Nope. I don’t live in a bubble. I just live in a part of the country that 1) believes in science, and 2) cares more about the people around me and the welfare of the society as a whole than my own selfish beliefts or needs. I am not going to go down some kind of societal or politcal battle with you about this.

Western suburbs. I grew up in Kensington - where I am sure there are a fair amount of unvaccinated people.

It is crazy to me that in virtually every other major industrialized nation in Europe and Asia, vaccination rates approach 90%. Here it is 65%. And the statistics are what they are - you are 14x more likely to die from COVID if you are unvaccinated than if you are fully vaccinated.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/health/2022/02/02/covid-cases-mandates-vaccines-deaths/9308759002/

This is statistical fact. This is not what tribe you belong to or who you voted for President for. The fact that 1) there is a material percentage of this country's population that believes not getting vaccinated is a sign of tribal affiliation, and 2) that these kinds of statistical facts are so widely mistrusted by tens of millions of Americans (while hundreds of millions of people of other countries around the world believe in science and facts and are protecting their families and communities by being vaccinated) is why I fear for the world that my children and grandchildren will live in.

This is a basketball forum. I will leave my fears about the future of our country for a forum where it is more appropriate to discuss.

Yes, shoot yourself in the foot. That's what Kyrie is doing. Yes, Kyrie's had Covid. But people who have had Covid are not immune from it. They can get it again. My 9-year old cousin first caught Delta and two months later he caught Omicron.

Also, immunity from infection doesn't last forever. My father caught Covid during the second wave back in 2020. He was in the ICU for 52 days so, yeah, his antibody count was really high. They still don't last for a long time, though, so he got vaccinated in December.

Hello Brooklyn wrote:Other unvaccinated players are allowed to come play in Barclays all the time. Because they don't live in NYC. What sense does that make?

I still think he should get vaccinated.

Yes, the rule is stupid. Unvaccinated players from other teams shouldn't be allowed to come play in NYC.

He is, though. And, more importantly, he is putting those around him at risk.

Hello Brooklyn wrote:The mandates have served their purpose. Time to move on.

I don't really give a crap about any mandate. Getting vaccinated against a pandemic isn't a political decision. It's a common sense decision.

People who are vaccinated can also get COVID. What are you talking about?

The CDC literally just put out a report saying natural immunity is stronger than being vaccinated.
https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/prior-covid-infection-more-protective-than-vaccination-during-delta-surge-us-2022-01-19/

Again I do think Kyrie should get vaccinated.

But I don't think he is "putting himself at risk" when we know that natural immunity gives stronger protection than vaccines. And other players are able to come play at Barclays freely whenever they want.

I think theres a fundamental difference between being stopped from playing because of a health decision. And sucking for no reason.

Again I think Kyrie is making a huge mistake.

But I blame Harden just as much for the way hes played this year.

I am aware that people who are vaccinated can also get Covid. It's the same deal as with the people who got Covid. Immunity doesn't last forever in either case. Which is exactly why I believe that we should be doing everything in our power to protect ourselves from that ****. And Kyrie isn't doing everything in his power. So, yeah, he is putting himself and others at risk. And, yes, the same goes for every other player who hasn't been vaccinated (I know that Justin Holiday, for example, hasn't been vaccinated either) and, in my opinion, they shouldn't be playing either in Barclays. The rule should apply to visiting teams as well. It is indeed stupid that it doesn't.

Yeah, no, I'm not making any argument against vaccines or their efficacy. Was more just thrown by the "part of the country you live in..." part. I'm also in the western burbs (Montgomery county) and run into anti-vax rhetoric on a pretty regular basis. The majority of people in the area are vaccinated (at least I think), the anti crowd just feels the need to not shut the **** about it.

1) The only one stopping Kyrie from playing is Kyrie himself.

2) There actually is a reason why Harden is sucking. He is a 32 year old dude with ton of mileage that has battled injuries the past two years. He forced his way to the Nets because he thought that if he went to a team with two superstars, he wouldn't have to do everything by himself like he did in Houston. He went there because he realized that he needs help to win. Kyrie is actively refusing that help. Harden is currently averaging 37 MPG for the Nets. He is actually playing more minutes this season than he did in his last 4 seasons in Houston. You really cannot run dudes his age to the ground in the RS and then wonder why they're sucking. He is sucking because he's old and broken down. The Nets should be load-managing both Harden and Durant but they cannot due to Kyrie.

The problem with that is if you need a guy to come in with little preparation and jump start your team for the playoffs at the last minute, is Simmons really the guy you want in that role? Based on what we saw last year, he might be the last guy you'd want.

What does that even have to do with anything?

Yes it does because its best to have natural immunity and vaccination.

However having natural immunity provides you very strong protection. Stronger than merely getting vaccinated.

So the idea that Kyrie is "putting himself at risk" is pretty stupid.

Hes better protected than players who have been vaccinated and never gotten COVID.

Still as I've said he should get vaccinated.

The mandate is stopping Kyrie. If Kyrie could play every game he would.

Thats such a stupid excuse. Harden is putting up his worst stats since his rookie year. He has been terrible compared to his normal standards.

Do everything himself?

He was being CARRIED by Durant all season. Durant played more minutes than him, is older than him, has more mileage and was having one of the best seasons of his career.

Hes sucking because he came into the season FAT and OUT OF SHAPE. Look at pictures of him from 3 years ago, 32 is not old. Harden doesn't take care of himself. As you get older your metabolism slows down.
