Barnes is the guy who could take us to the next level. He should be the target.

We may not have the star power of a Brooklyn or others, but we can overwhelm with a playoff rotation of 8-9 very high calibre NBA players. The collective can beat the few.

True… and those “high caliber NBA players” all have shown the capacity to go off on any given night too, with some like Butler, Herro, and Lowry all showing the capacity to close out teams under the big lights with big shots and plays.

I'm all for trading for Barnes. Can we fit him in and stay under the tax line?

Barnes might be an attractive target for us but I don't think our pieces to match Barnes's 20.2 will be worth while for the Kings to make a move. Barnes is better then Duncan and I highly doubt they view Markieff Morris and KZ as worthwhile replacements. If we trade them Yurt, Robinson, and KZ it puts us into the tax. The Kings roster is also overloaded and don't have any roster spots for any 3 for 1 or 4 for 1 type deals we would need to match and stay under the tax while having to replace three roster spots of our own.

I just answered this question above to Wilt's post. The only way we can try to make an offer to the Kings and match 20.2 while staying under the tax is offering Yurt, Robinson, KZ, and Morris. I don't think that moves the needle for the Kings and they also don't have the roster spots to take on such a one sided amount of players for one. Also have to take into account we would need to replace 2-3 roster spots of outgoing players that would be all counted against the tax. I don't see us as a trade match.

I just explained above the low probability of this happening for both us and the Kings. KZ and Markieff are essentially negative assets. The Kings would be trading Barnes for 3 more years of a contract in Duncan and a pick down the road? Even with Yurtseven added it makes no sense for both sides. The Kings already have a bunch of big contracts to trade down the road. I don't see them wanting to add another one with Duncan.

Any player making above what Duncan makes is going to complicate matters when coming up with trades. This is why players like Christian Wood (13.6) and Covington (12.9) make the most sense.

Barnes would be the best but seems wholly unrealistic imo

Wood is high ceiling move (with risk). Covington is the best high floor move.

I could definitely see Covington here. Wouldn’t surprise me at all. He seems like the type they’d got after at the deadline too

Don't be shocked of Heat pursue Harden. Any pursuit of Harden would have an contract extension agreement.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Miami being interested in a trade package with Utah(could be a 3-4 team trade) that included Joe Ingles who would be a good backup stretch 4, who is very competitive, a smart passer and he's on the last year of his contract worth 14 million.
