Fountain of youth was empty during the playoff
We need to cut his minutes to about 20-25 a game
Play him more if the matchup calls for it

And he needs to at least look at the basket when he gets a ball in the paint and not automatically look for the player on a corner 3

Next year will probably be his last chance at a ring
Make it happen

Age approaching that jersey number fast. Get this man a ring (as our backup big)!

Horford deserves a ring. 37, lets see how much longer he stays in the league/with the celtics.

Locker room video of Al during the playoffs uncovered. The Fountain of Youth has run dry.

Having a guy like Al coming off the bench playing around 20 minutes per game would be a luxury. Having him as your main big playing 30 mpg turns him into a liability. Unfortunately, you'd probably have to move him to force Joe's hand into trusting Rob more.

Whenever he started passing up layups or easy post up shots over smaller guys, to kick it out to a three point shooter, that's when his play went downhill. Luckily, his defense was still at a high level, but what happened to his shot from deep?? His timing looked off. Like he rushed it a split second faster than his usual release during the regular season.

I don’t think we advance vs the Sixers without his defense on Embiid. Same thing against Giannis/Bucks last postseason. Imo, our primary defender against opposing bigs should be more of a priority. Who knows how long he’ll be able to hold up. (He didn’t have much left against Bam/Heat.)

Horf can be preserved if he plays with a legit big man that can guard the post against big guys. Some one that can bang bodies. Rob ain’t that guy. It takes a lot on horf having to play the 5.

I am not sure I have read how terrible it looks now in Hindsight that Joe played Al so many minutes in the regular season at his age. Was it a surprise that Al ran out of gas and looked his age in the playoffs??

It seems like Coach Clueless has caught some heat for many things, rightfully so.. But this one seems to have caught very little.

Next year early on Al will probably have a string of good games and another thread like this will pop up.. :o :banghead:
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

Horford still has hops, but they don't feel reliable to him. I deduce that from:
-- Plenty of shotblocking.
-- Near-total unwillingness to take jump shots of any kind, despite ...

-- ... ability to opportunistically dunk.

Agreed. He's obviously getting there in age, but so much talk about his offensive limitations, but that was on coaching. They rarely ran pick and roll/pop for him and he was definitely not looking to score inside the arc enough. Then when he had to, he often wasn't in rythm. That's coaching and practice. Al's a very talented big.

Horford should make for a really good player-coach this year. Can be preserved with KP and RW. 20 min per game is what I would like/expect.

Eh, I might argue he did wrong not adding one last year.

Who did you have in mind last year?
