I'm watching the combine on and off here (hooray fios)...they were talking about how tony mitchell could sneak into the lottery if he shows well in the weeks leading up to the draft. Crabbe has looked well. I think I missed the centers :/

That guy Davies, from BYU looked like he had prototypical PF size. They were talking about how that "honor code" incident stopped his draft momentum from last season. Came off as a guy that "knew" his role.

Zeller said his old reported 6'8 wingspan was bogus and that he measured 6'11 - per Chris Mannix.

Davies isn't very impressive, according to YODA. Decent passer and a solid rebounder, but he shoots a low 2pt%, and his steals and blocks aren't very good. Those factors suggest he may not have the athleticism necessary in the NBA. His good assist numbers are largely offset by extremely high turnovers.

The question on Tony Mitchell is which one is the "real" Tony Mitchell. As a freshman, he looked like a decent prospect -- someone worth picking in the late 1st or early 2nd round. As a sophomore, he was AWFUL. And he played against fairly weak competition. And his team this year was terrible, which didn't help either. I might be willing to pick him in the late 2nd round, if he was still there. Would prefer to bring him in as a summer league look-and-see kind of player.

In the NBA KO might score in the post and from midrange a lot like Zach Randolph scores. He's nowhere near as strong and not nearly the rebounder, but he should measure out well and he has very similar post moves with touch. Olynyk can fit with the Wizards.

Place him in the roster spot vacated by Collins. Olynyk is a very high IQ player. I think he's a great complement to the low IQ guys who are great athletes-Seraphin and Vesely. They are always in a hurry but he thinks the game through. He's smart enough to be a patient, role player. His PG past should make Olynyk a good facilitator to the many Wizards who finish or hit threes well. He's a decent player at least.
The Wizards shoukd have drafted Derik Queen

I told you so :banghead:

Do they announce official measurements tomorrow?

Also, I find it disappointing that some players simply don't take part in the events because their agents tell them not to. Its one thing if you're injured, its another if you lack the fierce competitive spirit to outplay your competition.

CCJ I'd like Olynyk to basically take Seraphins role as the PF or C that comes in whenever Nene or Okafor goes out.

It'd also help Seraphin to be on a shorter leash. Seraphin has the tools but we have to yank the chain a little so he can work on his decision making and efficiency. It would be great overall frontcourt depth.

Maybe, but its just comical how agents determine the competitiveness of players now in order to ensure draft stalk. I want to see top talents workout against one another. While we didn't necessarily see any good one on one battles today, I fear this type of scared attitude will trickle down to smaller team workouts down the line.

Did Drummond and Davis ever workout against one another last year for any team?

Wouldn't be upset with KO.

Agree that KS needs to be on a shorter leash. And/or improved in EACH of the following:

1. improved reaction to being 2x teamed - should lead to fewer TOs.
2. fewer jump shots or a much higher %age of makes if he takes them
3. better rebounding

Kelly Olynyk really impressive. Can probably count on one hand how many jumpers he's missed. #NBACombine

The whole point in drafting Olynyk is that Seraphin is a bit of a disappointment so far.

I envision KS being a player to trade if his game doesn't improve. I think Olynyk would actually pair well with Vesely with the second unit and later depth.

I can't really speculate on trade scenarios, but I'm doubtful that they'd commit to Vesely in that fashion. Seraphin and Olynyk work together fine, emphasizing Serpahin to stay in the post more and giving him a knock down shooter at the elbows so he can handle double teams better.

Vesely...vesely doesn't fit into the scenario in any logical way other than being a decent passer.

Impressive. Didn't take much to push him out of position at 38 seconds though.

He can play either, but being a 7 footer in todays small ball league would mean more minutes at C.

Its almost irrelevant with our bigs though. Okafor can play the 4 or 5, as can Nene.

Impressed by Shabazz Muhammad with how hard he goes in drills. He has come into this combine in great shape. #NBADraftCombine

Sean Deveney @SeanDeveney

UCLA's Shabazz Muhammad said he has weighed in at 220, wants to be 218. He said he was 230 when he first took the court this year.

Olynyk fans - please list any successful NBA teams that start poor defensive centers.

The Thunder and Heat are two teams that were in the finals just last year with poor defensive centers in Perkins and Bosh.

You could also add the repeat Lakers to that. Bynum had very little impact in those playoffs due to injury and Pau played C primarily.

Olynyk is at best a Mehmet Okur type of player and is a big IF because Okur was way stronger.

He probably would end up being similar to Hawes or Scola, good back-up big, but that's not lottery worthy, no way.
