I think the main advantage the PL and La Liga have over other leagues is that they are easier to follow and market due to language. They also now possess strong fanbase because of the head start, and I suspect a lot of sports fans have become loyal to their teams. New fans of the sport could definitely choose BuLi over other leagues as it's a great league, but will current United/Real/Barca fans jump ships because there's more exposure to BuLi?

cgf wrote:The EPL obviously returns the most money, it's by far the most heavily marketed league in the world and is this the most watched. They may not have a clue how to develop young talent, what to do with all that money or how to play organized football rather than backyard style punt and chase, but the Brits have sure sold the **** out of their league around the league. Although with Germany joining Spain as leagues that play a much higher quality of football, better marketing for the BuLi and new foreign tv deals could close that gap a lot in the coming years.

I dunno how much of the gap will close because PL just got a new TV deal themselves, and the league's still growing in profitable and/or growing markets like North America and Asia. I think it will be some time before a BuLi game is shown live on American national TV like PL on NBC. As for BuLi vs La Liga, Bayern-Dortmund rivalry will never get as big as Barca-Real, but I do think it's highly attractive and marketable.

Btw playing a much higher quality of football is subjective. Bayern and Dortmund are great teams, but just a couple of weeks ago PL's 12th team () destroyed BuLi's 3rd team. This season especially has been really fun with the favorites struggling and preseason pretenders looking like contenders.

Oh I don't expect the BuLi to surpass the EPL, but with how well the bundesliga has been attacking Asia the past few years the gap will shrink as England's so far ahead the gap could close dramatically and there still be a big separation.

As for that game England's defending champs beat German's third team without their best player and arguably third best player. England may even have more talent than play in Germany but I really dislike the type of football played there. That's what I meant by my comment that the English-style everybody run to that box, now everybody run back to our box football is far less attractive than the clever and intricate styles played in La Liga or the BuLi. Not that BuLi teams necessarily > than their EPL counterparts.

I don't know, I for one rather watch the EPL over any other league. It's definitely fun to watch. I'll watch BL over La Liga unless it involves the top 3 La Liga teams.

A lot of people do, I just disagree immensely, I find the chaotic scrambles of the EPL often very disappointing and dull.

Perfect evening for German teams yesterday. Hopefully, Leverkusen can beat Sociedad today.

Munich has a difficult task but even a loss wouldn't be too dramatic in their group.

Gladbach just handed Dortmund their first loss of the season in a game that Dortmund should've won.

At the end it was a lucky 2-0 for us, especially given that fact that Dortmund had 27 shots on goal to our 6.

25 vs 4 shots
1-1

pure dominance, müller should've scored 2, shaq 1, leno had the game of his life, ref didn't give a clear penalty.
i'm gonna get wasted now, this was the most ... i don't even know... game i've ever seen. wait, i recall a game where bayern had like 35-40 shots against frankfurt iirc, and it was a 0-0.
it was exactly like that.

bayern top of the table again, nice. but this should've been a 5-1, not a 1-1. unbelievable.
oh, and btw: yes, it's true leverkusen suck. dortmund and bayern are two tiers above them.
Wake up, girl. I wanna go surfing.

Heinz Müller with a legendary assist to get a draw against Hoffenheim. Mainz is dtill in terrible shape, though.

Must be a long time ago. Bayern was unbeatable last year, and Dortmund the two years before. The only team that realistically can get a draw against both is Leverkusen, and they can't play both at the same time :D

HSV drubs Nuremberg 5:0 :o

Kinda OT: I just saw the Bayern - Bamberg basketball game on TV, and Hoeneß and Sammer were both there. Sammer is the least enthusiastic basketball fan on this planet

Koln misses not one, but two penalties, hit the post/crossbar 4 times, and we still win 2-1 in Karlsruhe. Back on top - Good times!
