I back Brad Stevens to develop whoever we pick at #1 properly defensively and offensively (most likely Fultz), not even worried.

Why not at least put such smoking takes in the appropriate thread? Or is the Fultz thread the one where you're urging us to max Otto Porter?

This thread should be reserved for Sully throttling the group think on giving $30M to Hayward when we've got Brown and Fultz.

Come for the discussion on Hayward, stay for the debate on Fultz. Never change, RealGM.

GregB, I believe, is the one who started the Fultz love fest in this thread. Mods should feel free to move this discussion wherever they think it belongs.

The discussion was on Hayward until post 352 when you threw a hissy fit about Fultz hype. But way to pass the buck onto someone else

It's pretty much every thread on this forum that gets over 10 pages will have gone off topic multiple times to things that are specific to a few different threads on the first page.

You are contradicting yourself. If W#ashington needs to match, offer Porter a max deal. He may not be worth it, but that's Washington's problem if they match. Are you saying "Washington has to match but maybe they won't?"

If he was willing to sign a 16 million a year deal or something of that effect I'd take him. He's not a max player. BUT since he's restricted someone will offer him the max and essentially force Washington to overpay him. Most likely they'll match but if not then whoever gets Porter is probably regretting that contract next year.

Porter is an easy max RFA. pretty silly to think otherwise. I would be surprised if Wiz didn't match any offer.
as a 23 year old he really put up special numbers. TS% 0.628, BPM 3.9, Ortg 129, Drtg 108, 3pt% 0.434, TRB% 11.1 (very good for a wing)

Porter will be 24-28 (his prime) for his next contract. the above numbers compare positively to our favorite FA target....and his Max would start at 25.25 million. Would be amazing if we could get Porter but IMO he is not obtainable.

100%, and further, the cap is going up again soon.

Porter is in many respects the worst kind of player to max, but make no mistake that it's happening. Wiz will match.

I apologize if this has been posted already. It's from Gordon Hayward's recent blog post.

Considering what the Warriors have done—they won it two years ago, then set the record for the most regular-season wins a year ago, then went and added Kevin Durant—there is only one expectation.

Their goal is to win the whole thing, and anything less than that is definitely a failure. I’m sure that’s what they believe. They definitely have the ability and the talent to win this series and if they don’t, it’s probably a failure in their minds as well.

But I’m sure the Cavs feel the same way. If Cleveland doesn’t win, I know LeBron will look at it as a failure.

Both teams feel like they have an opportunity to win and feel like they should win, and that’s what makes this matchup so intriguing.

As far as what I think happens, I see the Warriors winning in five, maybe six games. They just have too many options. Not only are they historically good offensively, they’re almost as good defensively too. As long as they stay healthy, what they have is just too much, and I think they’ll walk away with the title. Whatever happens, I'm joining the Boston Celtics this summer for half the max.

I may or may not have added the last line.

On a positive note. Last night hopefully shows Gordon the Cavs are a bit weaker and he could take them out here in Boston. Because it looks like Utah will be getting eliminated in round 1-2 for the foreseeable future.

Watching last night's game - not sure if any team can be put together to compete. Hayward will make us better, but as long as LeBUM is around playing like he does, I dunno.

That's a pretty poor comparison to prove a point.

Wiggins was a fairly limited offensive player coming out of college. He relied on his athleticism a bunch. Similar to Josh Jackson.

Fultz is the most advanced ball handling prospect since Kyrie Irving. Fultz will have a lot to learn but figuring out to take a guy off the dribble one on one won't be one of them.

People thought the same about D'Angelo Russell.. everybody expected him to fire away in the league since day one and that he would be in the conversation for ROY..

Utah has a good coach and Gobert. Those are the only reasons Hayward would stay there.

If by this time of the year, you still don't think hayward and the celtics have mutual interest...you're just lying to yourself.

So what you're saying is, is that it's a lock and I should order my Hayward jersey already?

I think it's pretty damn telling that we've done everything in our power to call last season a bridge year and maintain max space. I think this may be a situation similar to Horford, where we have a pretty good idea internally that he's coming.

Could be wrong, but there are about 3 teams that may be able to beat the Warriors in the next 5 years. The Celtics, with their assets, are one of them.

The Warriors domination is going to have a fall out. New super teams will coalesce. A lot of teams will tank. And players will flock from west to east, as that's a far easier path to the finals.

Just gotta pray for Boogie to leave NO next year and AD is ours. I could seriously **** with a IT-AB-Hayward-AD-Horford team.
