Draft picks are great if you can actually find success with them. Of course that isn't easy just look at the Celtics. For all the draft picks they had they just have Brown and Tatum to show for it and a bunch of picks flushed down the toilet.

I think this is an upgrade for the Rockets.

As good as CP3, Westbrook is like kind of Ariza who was the missing part against the Warriors in 2019 playoffs and despite Harden playing better than 2018 they couldn't force a game 7 this time around.
Harden can make up for playmaking difference between CP3 and Westbrook. So, Westbrook's better athleticism is an upgrade here, especially on the defensive end.

Though I'm curious to see how D'Antoni will utilize Westbrook. RW isn't his type of player.

Where did those WCF trips end up getting Harden? He's a massive choker that plays no defense and gets his points from flopping. I don't even know why you would be mad, Westbrook is a massive upgrade over Chris Paul and you basically just swapped contracts.

I'm sorry, please remind me, the conference finals come after the 1st round right? Yeah it didn't produce rings, so what? We ran into a dynasty both times. Should Utah have traded Stockton for Mark Jackson cause they kept making the finals and couldn't beat MJ? This dude couldn't beat Harden straight up, got waxed by the same Jazz team that Harden dispatched easily the next round, and got bounced by Dame this year. Spin how you want to, with some bull about not winning rings probably, but the facts don't lie. Harden had consistently taken his team to more success than Russell. Period. End. Of. Story. And now Harden is gonna have to drag his lame ass as far as he can for the next 4 years. Terrible deal, point blank period.

Oh yeah. Player fans mostly. Westbrook fans versus Harden fans is probably one of most heated rivalries of the past 3 years. Now they must unite and root for the other one so they can both get a chip.

Uh no. No one else is going to trade for Chris Paul.

I won't be shocked if he goes to WAS, MIN or MIA. I think Presti might even give a pick to move him for Wiggins if he's rebuilding (not a good pick..one of the worst ones). And Paul might fit better with Beal and Wall is a worse contract.

If Harden/Paul tension was bad (and it seems like it was), the Rockets had to trade Paul. And Paul had one of the worst contracts in the NBA, so this is probably the best the Rockets could have done under the circumstances.
