It's just summer league but if we're looking at whether Cole can share the backcourt with Suggs and play off-ball, I'm not so sure. If Fultz is ready to start the season, I don't know if they carry all these guards. Where is Cole's PT going to come from?

We didn't have the best rim protection and Cleveland got hot from 3. There were still good things to take from this game. Suggs has that competitive spirit you can't teach. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if he plays great tomorrow. I thought Franz was solid today especially on the defensive end. Just want him to let it fly when he's open for 3. You can't hesitate like that when you play against real NBA talent. Our 2nd unit guys continue to play well.

RJ has been doing a poor job reading the game overall. He looks subpar on both ends. With Cole, I thought his energy was solid at times defensively but he is playing like a guy who is pressing badly at the moment. He needs to settle down and pick his spots to attack better. It probably would be best in one of these games to experiment separating Suggs and Cole in the lineup.

Wagner is going to be a super versatile player when he matures into his game and takes his time.

wtf is happening to Cole Anthony? I guess he knows even more than us that he doesn't have a single chance against Suggs

Have the feeling he's going to play like a veteran really soon. I hope he can become a Detlef Schempf type player. He was also taken with the 8th pick and from Germany.

From the bench. He’s not going to get as much burn this season. He got thrown into the fire with Fultz going down but with Fultz set to make a return and Suggs on the roster, I don’t see how he plays more than 15mpg.

He's def getting more than that. 15 mpg is low. I'd say around 20-25

So I think this is dead on. Everyone was assuming the player dev part meant Cole and RJ when maybe in reality they want it with Fultz Isaac Okeke and Carter. Still think Bamba can get into that mix. Right now Cole and RJ don’t look like rotation guys. I am really trying not to overreact to summer league but damn. Suggs and even Franz are really outplaying them, Franz defense is really good and his cuts are on point he will play really good minutes come regular season I think he isn’t feeling the 3 ball will see what happens there but he isn’t awful shooting. At least RJ looks like he worked on his 3 ball but defense was real ****. Cole was just all bad. Harris is going to get more minutes then both those guys come regular season and I think it will be the right call.

Rotation prediction
Suggs/Fultz/Anthony
Harris/Fultz/Ross/Hampton
Okeke/Franz/Hampton
Isaac/M Wagner
Carter/Bamba/Lopez

Anthony and Hampton might be lucky to get 15 minutes. Not saying I agree with it. I think Harris is better than both of them and he isn’t old so not sure why everyone wants to dump him. Ross I would give away I want him off this team if he is taking shots away from Suggs it’s going to get old fast
Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.

Wonder if they post Scottie's stats on the GB again?

Omg this is just false lmao. The confidence will come but his defense his IQ and awareness are very good

We are watching different games… But I appreciate your opinion… His inability to recognize situational offense at the end of the first half is about all I need to see—he will be a role player at best for his career…

Give a listen to Suggs' thoughts on the topic.

Cliff notes, it didn't sound good for your hot take.

15 might be a bit low as an absolute max if Fultz isn’t back when the season starts. Without Fultz, I can see Cole getting 20-25. With Fultz back, I see it closer to 15. So to average it out, I guess it could be 15-20 as a season average but I don’t see how he gets more than that with the vets being in the guard rotation too.

Suggs should start at PG. He looks more effective when he's playing on the ball.

Fultz didn't look bad when he played off the ball with DJ.

SL is not indicative of anything as far as guys who have done okay in the NBA already and we're not going to try to be good with guys that shot as bad as Ross and MCW did last year.

We will have to agree to disagree on that. No way should second year players struggle this bad in summer league. They had moments last season but they are hardly proven NBA players to give them a pass. I’m still rooting for them though, it’s just concerning.

No laughing and smiling with the opposition after the game from Suggs. Refreshing.

First time really, really seeing Suggs. He impressed me a lot, I am so happy to have him. He missed out on at least two assists from sharpshooters missing their shot. But he did things on both ends and played well in a physical game.

RJ also impressed me pretty well, too. Showed composure and was flashing an improved shot, to me at least.

Franz was also great, for my first look at him. Tall, defensive, and offensively versatile. I am high on him and Okeke as these insanely good 4th and 5th starters type players.

I agree with what someone said earlier about Cole Anthony, he needs to try and focus on catch and shoot 3 or picking his spots more carefully. He literally took 2 points away from RJ by selfishly trying and missing a difficult transition drive (instead of passing). But if we're going to have someone chuck shots, there's no one would benefit from it the most except for Cole I guess (for now). As we want to make our Patty Mills or something even more.

Credit to our 2nd unit too, they played really hard. I think some of them were our G League champion roster. It just felt like they played better than any previous 2nd units of Magic SL teams I've seen. I don't think we had the paint defense tonight, or any way to cool down red hot CLE 3 pt shooting. If I had to pick the best two players I saw tonight, it was #1 Evan Mobley, and #2 Jalen Suggs. (I know, not much of a revelation, haha)

Why? What did you expect from him? Superstar?

Honestly, didn’t do a ton of DD on him prior to draft, but not seeing a #8 pick is all…

He was never projected to be a star, tbh. His best case was projected to be a starter for a long time tho.

Weltman said good things about TIMMA by the way. Hope we can sign him as sharpshooting, savvy vet. I liked his game!
