My understanding is that she was working in the offseason, that WNBA players have to do since the league doesn't make money, and she treated Russia like it was California. Now her team is on national TV on the playoff bubble without her.

Anyone who thinks Griner deserves the 9.5 on top of the 6 months she already served for a couple vape cartridges has an agenda against her, her political stance, or both. This sentence is a damn tragedy, and IMO if the US/Russia wasn’t in a proxy war right now, she would be a free woman right now.

What I don’t agree with is trading a Russian criminal for her. What’s stopping Russia from coming up with another BS excuse to prosecute another American? Are we just going to release all their criminals for them, or do we not care because this said American isn’t a celebrity or public figure?

Women’s prison is pretty easy compared to men’s prison. You don’t have to worry about getting jumped or stabbed.

There's a significant minority of Americans on both sides of the political spectrum that are rooting for Russia to win and somehow think that Russia is either a counterbalance to American imperialism or a paradise for traditional family Christian values.

I debated with a guy that is a democrat and is always harping about affordable healthcare and is anti Trump yet he also is strongly rooting for Russia to win and calls the Azov battalion nazis and has swallowed the Kremlin lies hook line and sinker.

Agree. Silly sentence that should never exist in 2022 for such a minor crime. Also agree trading the “merchant of death” or whatever, a literal terrorist to free a celeb isn’t ideal.
