All that's true but none of it is a big deal. With Snyder coming in one could argue it might be a good time to shake things up. Of course he's going to talk about working with Trae, he's not going to say "nah let's trade that guy." And yes, Trae is their best player, he wasn't the problem but he's also not the solution. In 5 years with Trae they haven't come anywhere close to true contender status, just one surprise run a couple years ago but then right back to mediocrity.

Meanwhile they've got a real problem with their 2 best players playing the exact same position and role. They want to trade Murray but he will want a big new deal next year so he has limited value. Trae is their only legit chip for a shakeup. Jaylen would have to agree to an extension before the trade most likely but that's not insurmountable at all.

I don't think it's likely of course, big trades like this never are, but I've seen far crazier trades made in the L. This one at least makes sense. And hey, it's the offseason, what else we gonna talk about but crazy trades?

Tatum, Brown, KP, White and Rob is about as elite as it gets. I'm not totally against trading JB. But people are acting as if him and Tatum are not going to improve this season. They're just now starting to enter their prime. Fill out the roster...see how it goes. If they do end up really needing a ball dominant PG, then I'm sure someone will shake free at the deadline

Brown has very poor basketball sense. It's been that way since he arrived. I don't expect that to ever change. To have 35% of your cap tied up in such a player will not end well.

I’m still hoping we can get less than 35%. Maybe he could compromise at 32 or 33%.

Brown for Murray/Hunter would be perfect for us. Definitely makes us a lot more balanced as a team.

Seems like Joe was also scared to bench Smart in those 4th quarters, so Brad made the decision for him.

I think it's fair to say that maybe this group had run it's course.

As unfortunate as Brogdon was to end the season all the on/off splits favored Brogdon over Smart. Certainly seems like the FO is okay w a 7-8 man rotation.

Yet it was Brogdon they tried to send until the last minute.

I’d do that deal.
White
Murray
Tatum
Hunter
Porzingis

Why pay brown the supermax and get tied to him, when you can get two players that fit better. Jaylen and Tatum don’t really fit.

Well that depends on the matchup. Rob is quite limited on offense, and hunter is the better offensive player, but Rob is better on defense though.

I don't think Rob starts over Deandre Hunter no matter the match up unless the other team is rolling out a 3 big lineup or something. Even then you'll just kill them from the outside.

I think so too. Hunter is the more versatile 2 way player.
Rob still can’t score on his own, which other teams can exploit on defense.

Pass on Hunter, he doesn’t do anything particularly really well and has a big contract.

I didn’t pay attention to him last year but my goodness he couldn’t miss against us in the playoffs. He wasn’t the only one like that either though.

Yeah he started getting hot when I started **** on him in the GTs lol. He’s a league average 3pt shooter and ok to decent defender. Not sure you need to pay 20M, especially now, for that.

Every time I pick up my phone I’m hoping to see Brown for Scoot and Simons but hasn’t happened yet :(

Both collins and hunter player well against the heat in the play-in. Gave Bam fits with their length and athleticism.

I don’t know about that. He is getting better actually. I doubt the hawks will give him up. He can be a horford replacement though.

If we can get murray and hunter for brown, i’d do that no question. They fit better with JT. Plus 20M for a young guy is definitely movable.

I agree. I find it funny that guys here wanted to keep him than lose him for nothing. I’d rather lose him than pay him 60M for 5 years. untradeable and worst contract in the league, and he’s not even a superstar.

A big dude who can do a lot of things kind of well on 4/90 is super valuable. That's essentially what Aaron Gordon is except he's really good at highlight dunks.

JB for Trae is not happening. I love JB, and even for all Trae's faults he is still a whole offensive system upon himself, Brown will never reach that amount of playmaking, feel for the game.
