Most fans screams about "potential" especially when they see a prospect with chiselled body, his age (the younger that is, the better), and the hype sorrounding the prospect. That is true in some cases but not for majority. In my opinion what dictates whether a player will have a prolonged career in the NBA is more about his skillset, BBIQ and understanding of the game and how he can translate those at NBA level. Physical attributes and work ethics are complementary.

Those who are claiming Farvors is a PF prolly has no good understanding of what are the required skillsets (at least even the minimum) for an NBA PF. Farvors skillset is even raw for a skillset of an average NBA center. Unless Farvors is going to be paired with a stretch 5, he looks like a center to me based on his current skillset.

As to Cousins, assuming red flags aside, I see a more efficient post scorer (with higher draw foul rate) and rebounder version of Al Jefferson. Both are under the rim low post big. Zach Randolph comparison is also a good comparison. Cousins will never be an elite shotblocker and post defender just like Jefferson given Cousins' size and lateral mobility but should be one of those better man defender against traditional low post bigman.

One notable difference between the two is their understanding of where they are and what to do given their distance from the ring. For instance, if Farvors gets an offensive rebound from 12 feet he will either give it back to the guard running the offense instantly, or attack the ring instantly. Straight forward decision. Cousins getting the ball from 12 feet whether it is handed to him or through offensive rebound, reads the defense first, its distribution, and best case scenario before doing his move towards the basket. Cousins will then use his body, weight and coordination in attacking the basket without losing sight of his other teammates and their movements. Something Farvors at this point has not learned. To give you an example, in the NBA this like comparing what goes in Pau Gasol's mind using the same scenario compared to say Dwight Howard and Andrew Bynum.

Going back to rebounding. Farvors is the better offensive rebounder. When it comes to defensive rebounding, Cousins skill outweights whatever advantage Farvors have in athleticism and mobility.

Just by watching this video, I think it would be wrong to project Favors as a 5. He doesn't look like he has the body for it.

The reason why I said Farvors is a 5 right now is because of how I assess his skillset and not based on his body. Those workouts doesnt really say about the skillset of a player fitting him to a 4 or a 5 unless you see him in actual games. Perkins can make those shots in the same scenario. Right now Farvors skillset fits more to that of a 5 than 4.

What I would like to know is how well Cousins can pass, especially from out of the post under pressure.

His offensive ability is often compared to Al Jefferson and Zack Randolph, neither of whom can pass.

If he's an able and willing passer, that would be a huge weapon for him IMO.

Not to nitpick, but Zach Randolph has actually become a pretty decent passer.

I think that you're seeing what you want to see. It's a 2 minute video in which the only skill that either of them showed is their jump shots, and they both looked good. I actually watched the video again to see if I missed something, and I can't imagine where you're getting that Cousins is more skilled based on this video. Based on their respective seasons? Sure. Based on this video? No way.

Who is this "Farvors" guy that you speak of ? He wouldn't happen to be related to Derrick Favors?

True, but he's certainly no Kevin Love.

I think you misinterpreted me a bit, I came to the conclusion that Cousins is much more skilled, smooth and natural on offense than Favors from watching tonnes of UK games and a decent number of GT games. I just found it funny how even in a short, limited video like this their respective strengths/weaknesses can still be seen. Skill-wise I think Cousins looks pretty far ahead, he looks very smooth and natural with his jumper, spotting up or pulling up, he just has a quick and natural release. His jumper looks like something he could use in the NBA today. Favors, on the other hand, has a mechanical and somewhat awkward looking j, with a slow release. Yes he can shoot it when wide open, but does that look like a j he would want to use under pressure in an NBA game? To me it doesn't.

We have an interview posted with Ekpe Udoh that was right before his workout with the Jazz.

Link is in our sig, if any mod would give me the go ahead I'd post it here.

Thanks.

Good interview.
It kept stuttering up on your site though, so I just searched it on youtube and watched it there.
What's with him being like the third prospect to compare himself to KG in the NBA, lol.

What happened to the Paul George one?

BTW, I'm obviously not a mod, so don't quote me on this, but as far as I know if it's just a youtube link you can certainly post it here, or just embed it right in this thread.

Let me clarify: the policy here is that we do not want shameless promotion of sites here. You can certainly post links to interviews that you have done on your site so that people know what you're talking about.
