I could get used to Terry driving to the rim like that.

Our 7 footers.....44 pts, 24 rebs, 10 blks, 5 stls.

That is without Chandler.

Entertaining game. GSW did hang with us almost the whole game, but i always felt our guys have some higher gears in them when it matters.

Our C position combined for 19 pts, 22 reb, 6 blks, 3 stl. All that without our all-star center.

defense isnt just about blocks and two of those were fouls, but i disagree, two rebounds in 35 minutes is awful for any starting pf in this league. dirk has been lazy on the boards this season

Admittedly, I got home in time to only watch the 4th, but in the 4th, his hands was in the face on all of his assignments and he stayed with his man. He went after the block shot instead of watching as Cousins tips and dunks the ball. He hustled on D. None of those show up in the box. And none of those was about stats.

It was similar to the Kings game, he turned it on at the end but there were similar lapses for most of the first 3 quarters.

POG is Mahinmi - that man played tough defense and delivered.

Oh, okay, Then I retract my statement if that is true. I still think we need and offensive big that can play in Dirk's absense in case of foul trouble, but the 4th quarter Dirk is who we need to play all game.

I don't get the Barea hate in this sometimes. Yes, he played terrible tonight but I just think he needs to be told to stop shooting 3s and stick to what he's good at - mismatches and slashing to the paint.

And it's Carlisle that insists everyone take open 3s, even Kidd and Marion.

I really liked our line-up to end the game though. Kidd-Terry-Butler-Dirk-Mahimni.. with Chandler instead, beats the 3-guard line-up in every way. If you're going to put Barea in do it in place of Terry.

Solid games by both Ian Mahinmi and Alexis Ajinca. This game concerned me, but we won, and now we should beat New Jersey.

Wait, is someone seriously trying to rag on Dirk's defense tonight?

Lmao.

He held Lee to 20 points on 22 shots, and had two absolutely CRUCIAL plays in the clutch with the block on Lee then the steal. 4 blocks, 2 steals, great D.

You're absolutely right, defense isn't just about blocks and steals. That's why Dirk also has a great Drtg, defensive win shares, on/off court plus/minus, and opposing player PER.

You have to look at the context for the rebounds. He wasn't really in a position for them tonight. He maybe could have had a few more, but not many. We outrebounded GS despite GS shooting a higher fg%, and we're 9th in the NBA in rebounding. Dirk's defensive rebounding has still been good all year.

Also, Ian thoroughly outplayed Haywood. That lazy tree sloth just doesn't even care. Ian should be getting his minutes if he continues to put no effort forth.

If he continues like that, we HAVE to try hm at PF and keep Maion at SF. At least until we trade Haywood.

Problem is, I doubt we can find anyone that wants Haywood's sorry ass contract. :(

I wouldn't mind some Ian at the 4, in small doses. Though if he's out there with Wood/Tyson at the 5 and Marion at the 3, there's absolutely no shooting on the court and the paint is packed.

Tyson-Dirk-Marion-Terry-Kidd is still the best lineup.

Mahinmi is definitely miles ahead of Ajinca in terms of development.

DIRK should have gotten more than 2 rebounds, but he did play good D on Lee, especially during the 2nd half. Lee got a few easy dunks, but that was mainly because DIRK was rotating over to stop penetration from Ellis/Curry.

Haywood: 4pts 6rbs 3 blks in 18mins
Mahinmi 12pts 10rbs 2stl 1 blk 8/10 ft in 21mins
Ajinca: 3pts 6rbs 2blks 1stl in 9 mins

call me crazy but Mahinmi for backup center!!! Ajinca for 3rd and Haywood for 4th string center!

I have proposed this for a while now:

Butler, Haywood, Stevenson, Terry and DoJo to PHI for Thaddeus Young, AI and Elton Brand.
The main argument against my idea has been that we leave a big black hole in back-up position. With the way Ajinca and Mahinmi are comming along I just cant see this black hole and with Brand we fill the inside scoring and back-up PF hole in our line-up.

Chandler | Mahinmi, Ajinca
Dirk | Brand
Marion | Thaddeus Young
AI | Jason Kidd
Beaubois | JJ Barea
