Bynum is way too high on people's list. The guy can't stay healthy.

I also find it ironic how everyone craps on Lopez for his rebounding last year as if it has been his whole short 3 year career, but Gasol gets praised when he's not a good rebounder at all either.
M Gasol DRR: 19.4%
B Lopez DRR: 12.3%
Bargnani DRR: 13.9%
Gasol's TRB% was 13, not exactly the stuff of legends.
His per 36 was 7.9 per game and his actual 7 per in 32 mpg.

This is very fair.
If he can't learn to pass out of the post, it will actually be the main culprit in him never reaching the next level and remaining a slightly more impactful Al Jefferson type.

1-10: Andrea Bargnani.
He does more complicated things than any of these other centers.

Maybe we're just having trouble with semantics.
I dn't see Lopez as a low post center myself. I guess he can play down there, but, I think he's more comfortable in the high post.
he has finesse low post moves like dirk for example, he doesnt have quality fit work but h can play down there
Of course he does. You don't get the line and dunk as much as he does if you don't have excellent footwork or are on the perimeter shooting jump shots.
And no, he's much better in the low post than the high post. In the high post is where he gets in trouble.

I don't count his a center, usually amir plays center, and on offense his game is like 7tf SG.

Because Amar'e is a PF not a C. Just because he can play spot minutes at the 5 doesn't mean he should be in this discussion. KG and Dirk both play spot minutes at 5. They aren't centers either.

Because its not really his position. Would you classify LBJ or Wade as PGs even though they usually carry the bulk of the ball-handling duties/floor generalship?
Amar'e is a 4 who is forced to play the 5.

Lopez is very underrated. He is an excellent center and really suffered from unfortunate circumstances. His entire career has consisted of him being forced to be a #1 option when hes not until Deron Williams, than he got the injuries this year. He is most definitely in the upper top 10

He can't rebound...that easily keeps him out of the top 5, probably out of the top 8.

Re: Top 10 Centers
Most of the people that have an negative opinion on lopez haven't seen him play more than 2 games.
The rebounding issue isn't even a big deal, he can rebound, its just that he didn't feel like it this year. You can clearly see that he was dealing with injuries this year since he only uses 1 hand to reach for rebound.
Next year he will be back to his normal form.
On offense Lopez is deadly, he can do it all. It might look awkward but its effective.
Lopez is one of the top 5 centers in the league.

People are saying Amare is not a 5. He plays a lot of his time at the 5 though and starts there. How is he not a 5?

Re: Top 10 Centers
I don't think he's a center any more than I think David Lee is a center. Just a guy playing out of position.
You understand that players have a natural position, then can play outside of that natural position, right?
Amare is a PF through and through. You can start him at PG, that doesn't mean he's a PG. Not for our purposes.

"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Thats the truth, he runs back on offense while the ball is still at the rim all the time.
Thats not poor rebounder, thats laziness

Hey at least we was playing.. unlike Noah, who has missed 52 games in the last 2 seasons, while Lopez has missed 0 in 3 seasons.
...and again Brook actually averages more BPG than Noah over their careers... (1.7 vs. 1.3)... shocking, but true.

Noah averages more assists and less turnovers....
Look, I think Brook has a sweet jump shot. I just don't think his game is a center's game.

He starts at the 5 because he has the ability to play some center and the Knicks don't really have a viable starting center in the first place.
