If a team makes a trade for a player. Can they amnesty that player?

Like say the pistons traded Villanueva to the Lakers for Luke Walton because his contract is shorter. Could the Pistons amnesty Walton?

Thanks, there goes that fake trade. I've wondered about that, I thought it wouldn't be possible (it would set up some pretty messed up trades) but figured it was still worth asking.
