Dude, you gotta look past the raw numbers. For his career he's a 12 PER and has been horribly inefficient (48TS%). Even when he was having a career year, it was a 13 PER and 50TS%. He was chucking on a bottom dweller team. He literally does nothing well. He's worth what he got paid.

Does nothing well??? Hes a very good rebounder and passer, and can arguably play 3 positions. Hes decent, nothing special, but he definitely deserved more than MLE $$$

I'll give you good rebounder. He dominates the ball which leads to his assist numbers. Lots of players have the ability to play multiple positions. And a lot of them don't do it efficiently, much like Turner. He's a turnover machine. He's getting paid exactly what he's worth. There's a reason teams aren't knocking down his door for his services.

I disagree. Not many players can legitamately play 3 positions effectively. Also, assist numbers have nothing to do with it, hes a good passer, period. Not to mention he solid defensively. He the definition of an average NBA player and average NBA players at his age get more than MLE $$$

He can't legitimately play 3 positions, reason mostly being that he's an awful defender, he can't guard PG's, he can hardly guard SG's, therefore he plays SF and even then he's awful defensively. -1.66 DRAPM, allowed 1.05 points per possession which ranked 442nd in the league, and when Turner was in the game the Pacers gave up 6.5 more points per 100 possessions on defense. Offensively he can handle the ball, that doesn't make him a PG, he also doesn't stretch the floor so he's not a very effective wing, in fact he's usually idle on offense when he doesn't have the ball. He's a decent passer, his passer rating is average which takes into consideration assists to bad passes (passing turnovers) and assists to usage.

Everything about him is below average, 12.0 PER is awful, such below average players at 26 don't get MLE $$$, they're lucky to be in the league, he's lucky he went second overall.

I think he's a great addition to the C's at the value we got him at.

The Celtics roster is currently pretty bad, but the C's have a significant amount of trade-able assets.

This has all the markings of 2007 all over again.

They certainly have a ton of assets to warrant some trades (hopefully like in 2007)

18 players under contract right now, ~80M in salaries, so at least 3 guys have to be traded or cut

5 contracts are definitely expiring:

Rondo 13M
Bass 1.7M
Thornton 8.7M
Joel Anthony 3.8M
Keith Bogans 5.3M (non-guranteed)

9 players on rookie/min type deals and/or comprised of team options
All are for between 0 and 4 years, and none are over 3M per year:

Marcus Smart 2-4 yrs ~3M per
James Young 2-4 yrs ~2M per
Jared Sullinger 1-2 yrs ~1.8M per
Kelly Olynyk 1-3 years ~2-3M per
Tyler Zeller 1-2 years ~2M per
Vitor Faverani 1-2 yrs ~2M per
Phil Pressey 1-3 yrs <1M per
Christapher Johson 0-3 yrs <1M per
Chris Babb 0-2 yrs <1M per

9 or 10 first round draft picks over the next 4 drafts (10 if Sixers makes the playoffs this year)

7 or 9 second round draft picks over the next 4 drafts (9 if Sixers miss the playoffs this year)

Well, I don't know the exact figures but if they got Turner for less than $4M/yr, they got a decent pick up. Plus Danny is in the business of asset-acquisition, and showcasing potential talents to other NBA scouts. It's like a year-long summer league again lol

Probably the best Celtics acquisition since KG.

Danny Ainge has to be the genius of geniuses.
